Actually, that's a common misperception. Jalen exploded before Sengun went down. They combined to score 55 (21-44), 68 (30-55), 38 (16-33), 46 (18-34) points in four consecutive games where each of them scored at least 15 points individually. It was unfortunate that Sengun went down after about 10 days of Jalen explosion and we did not get to see more of how they could play together when Jalen performed at a high level.
I had just taken a screenshot back then and stumbled upon it on my drive while looking up "wide open threes". Only after posting, I realized it was older. On the 23-24 season, Jalen shot 33.5 % on wide open threes. Barely better than Alpi. Cam, Jabari, Aaron Holiday and Tari were best on those.
Jalen Green can’t be consistent (or good, or whatever else positive you’re implying) because he’s had to defer to Alpi and Bari is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read in multiple decades on this site.
Exactly. Jalen has consistently jacked up shots, exactly 16.2 per game with 3.5 assists per game. Alpi shot 15.6 shots per game with 5 assists per game. Jalen is clearly not taking a back seat and is involving others less than his own center.
Nah he exploded because it's post ASB and teams have largely stopped giving a ****. Just like the year before. And the year before.
Couple things…..NBA scouts aren’t idiots and will likely figure out that Sarr is a fraud at #1. He didn’t start on his own team because of offensive issues. No way he goes #1. Secondly, the rumblings in Washington now is that they are heavily considering Sheppard at #2. Your worries are legit. I’m worried we’re getting stuck with Sarr at #3. Love Amen Thompson, but we don’t need another non-shooter on the team.
What's even dumber than that is yall thinking Alpi is going to lead the Rockets anywhere worth noting. No championship. No deep playoff run. No win streaks. Just pretty stats.
But aren’t you’re a hardcore Jalen stan, the absolute irony. Building around any one player on this team is tricky. But the only one the potentially deserves it is Alp.
I was during the drafting process but I've cooled a little since then because of his inconsistencies, fingernail polish and constant humping. But I cant ignore how the team played during Alpis absence. They actually had us believing they could make the play-in after a so-so season up to that point.
But it wasn’t just without Alp, the streak and Jalen’s good play started with Alp. In fact, it’s been proven the play style didn’t change. Jalen started hitting more shots.
You could definitely attribute SOME of Jalen's March to Alpi missing games due to his uptick in time of possession which wouldn't happen if Alpi was in the game. Also there were definitely some games like the Thunder game where the spacing in the middle of the court allowed Green to split doubles with a clean runway where Alpi would usually take up space. The coaching staff should be able to figure out how to maximize them tougher. It shouldn't be that difficult for two very talented guys.
No, you can't. At all. 100% of the 8 good games was a fluke hot shooting streak. He chucked just like normal, the only difference is that he hit something like 47% of his 3's during the fluke.....he then went back to being dogshit shooting under 30% for the rest of the season. The reason for bad spacing on the Rockets is due to having a SHOOTING GUARD that can't shoot.....can't blame that on anyone else my cultist friend.
I’ll just be happy with Sarr, Sheppard or Risacher. They all represent a different dynamic to our young group. I just want Clingan off the board.
