Should the Rockets do anything to mark Steve’s Return?

I checked the schedule and saw that Steve, Cat, and Cato’s return is on Christmas Eve. It gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside, because after watching these guys and cheering for them since they were rookies (except for Cato), it almost seems like family coming home for the holidays.

I know they are no longer Rockets, but I think that the organization should do something to honor them for playing their hearts out in Houston for so many years. Maybe a short highlight film and a presentation or gift to show them how much we appreciated their efforts.

Is this wrong? Should I let it go? I as much as the next avid Rocket fan look forward to brighter days with the new team, but I just think it would be a class act for The City of Houston and the Rockets Organization to show a little love for the guys that gave so much to us for so long.

A polite round of applause while seated.

What did he really do to deserve more?

We should present him a b-ball, and just hold on to it until the clock expires.

The fans at Rockets games are pretty knowldegable. At least when compared to most of the baseball games i've been to. I'm positive he'll get a huge round of applause and a standing ovation when his name is called.

Then he'll probably drop 40 on us, running circles around Ward and Lue.;) We all know he is gonna come in here with something to prove.

Yes, I think the Rockets should mop up the floor with Magic a**. How is that for something special?

Well I think thats a mean thing to say, maybe we should just take that ball and turn it over to the Magic...well I guess that would be the most Francisesque thing to do.

Should the Rockets do anything? No!

Should the fans? Yes! If it's the Christmas Eve game the fans should each bring a lump of coal & present it to him all at once when he's introduced!! :D

    Yes,

They should beat the Orlando Magic soundly, and they should intercept all of Steve's errant passes, and stand directly in front of him on the fast break to draw the inevitable charge.

How about a documentary film tribute to his turnovers, or the times he went one on five, or when he ran slow breaks, or the clunker shots from the cheap seats, or the times he dribbled out the shot clock, or.....no that would be too long. I tell you what, I will settle for the Rockets beating the living hell out of them! Now that would be a nice memorial. And if you really insist, how about a statue in the front of the TC of him dribbling the ball out of bounds. Ah, memories.

Man, I don't understand most of you guys. When yall think about Steve and Cuttino (and to a lesser degree Cato) do you really simply remember all the flaws in their games? I think its really kind of sad. I would get as infuriated as anyone watching a turnover on a three on one fastbreak, or Steve heaving up an off balance shot with a sec left on the shot clock, or Cuttino bricking a quick three after an all out effort on a defensive stop

But when I think back on their tenure here in houston, thats not what I remember. I remember Steve breaking ankles and Cuttino shutting down the other teams best offensive player. I remember Steve trying his hardest to fit in Van Gundy's system last year, even though you could see how much it hurt his game. And mostly I remember the smiles and the laughs, I remember Steve and Cuttino running to each other and bumping chests after a game winning shot and the feeling (especially during their first three years here together) that this was a team of people that I genuinely liked.

Now I'm not lusting for the days of years gone bye by no means. I think the trade was something that had to happen (on both ends of the deal) and I truley think that both teams are going to make huge strides this year.

The point is we shouldn't be focusing on the fact that we weren't able to go all the way with that group of guys. What I focus on is that after Dream retired (Toronto didn't happen) Steve and Cuttino and even Moochie for a while there made it fun to be a rockets fan. We may not of won a whole lot of games, and we may have made bonehead mistakes alot of the time, but the energy and excitment that they brought to floor really helped make it bearable to be a Rockets fan.

I compare their time here to the end of the 19th century here in America: the period marked the transition of America from a pre-industrial agricultural society to the modern imperial power it is today. Sure they was a lot of unsavory things that were going on (children forced to work, the disenfranchisement of the black population, etc) but it was also a time up unparalleled excitment and optimism. And with having gone through that expierence the country couldn't have come to dominate the world as it does.

Lets hope the rockets have made it through a similar transitionary period and are ready to assert their own dominace. I don't know how kosher it is for organizations to do something special for recently traded players but I do know that if I was in charge I would recognize their contributions to rockets history. Since however I have no real power I'll say this much: I'm gonna be at that game and I'm gonna cheer and clap until my body gives out... and then I'll do it some more!!

Good look former rockets... that is until the game starts... :)

At most, the announcer should perk up their introductions a little. Francis and Cat returning, while a big thing, is a far cry from when Dream returned.

Amazing how that dunderhead got us two of the best players in the NBA today.

For this, he deserves a medal.

Not really, I think SF was against drafting Yao in the beginning.
