While possible, it's unlikely given his wingspan. He's probably about as tall as he's going to get....which is fine.

Reed Shepherd is better than Scoot Henderson and will be a better pro as well.

Why the Rockets select Reed Sheppard: The Spurs are really hoping their guy will fall one more spot and someone will move into this spot for another player (Memphis for Clingan has been mentioned as a possibility). Sheppard’s camp is pushing for Houston to go in another direction, so that he can play in San Antonio. Houston moving down a few spots and targeting another player is a possibility. Sheppard at 3 remains the most likely scenario. if they keep the pick, he would give the Rockets a skilled and mature scoring point to add to their young core.

"While the eye test does him no favors..."

Say what? Reed Sheppard's eye-test is freaking sublime... Almost annoyingly so... If you love good basketball, you love Reed Sheppard. Coach K cremes everywhere for the guy...

I have no idea if Sheppard wants to play for the Spurs or not. Stone shouldn't consider him if he refuses to work out for Houston imo.

nah if this is true then I for sure draft him and force the spurs to trade 4 and 8 to move up for him or keep him

Atlanta, not Reed but the Klingon? If so, Rox = ? Hmmm

outside of your family, who else did you lean on most heavily for either seeking counsel or advice as you went through this process? Dan Hurley: Seth Greenberg. He’s always been a great, great advisor and counsel for me. People that I have really have a lot of respect for. Tom Izzo. I talked to him. He was very helpful. Billy Donovan has always been somebody I talked to a lot. Brad Stevens, Quin Snyder. Quin Snyder is a really smart guy who, I know that they (the Atlanta Hawks) really like Donovan (Clingan), so I was able to kind of talk to them about Donovan, but then also to pick his brain in large part.

I hope it's true. It looks like a smokescreen to me.

Hearing about players rejecting the Rockets really pisses off, especially at the top of the draft. Mobley didn't want to play here. You could tell after being overlooked at #1, Jabari initially didn't want to play here. Paolo seemed like he did which was part of why I really wanted them to draft him. Even Jalen was mad for being overlooked at #1 by Detroit.

If Atlanta is dumb enough to take Clingan it shouldn't change anything the Rockets do. If he is available at #3 Reed Sheppard should be the pick.

That should have zero impact on whether we draft a player. They do not have a lot of say in the matter unless they are willing to sign overseas to avoid playing on a team. Besides that is likely all about perceived playing time. He might get a little more with the Spurs in his rookie year but by year 2 it would not matter if he proves himself which I am 100% positive someone like Sheppard will do and I would HATE to see him do that on our I-10 rival.

Is it less about the Rockets and more about wanting to be matched with Wemby?

Isn’t the concern that ATL would trade down with Spurs to take Clingan, so Spurs could steal who we want?

I think people read too much into leaks about where players allegedly want to play. San Antonio would be a VERY nice landing spot for Sheppard, he'd be an idiot if he DIDN'T want to play there and be paired with Wemby. Houston is also a good landing spot for Sheppard, but here he won't start immediately, he'd sit for a year behind FVV and that would make it less attractive than San Antonio....but I think here would be better for him long term.

As to the Spurs trading up, the rumor is they want one of the two French guys to pair with Wemby....so in theory, it wouldn't affect us at all.

Now, if that's a lie and they trade up for Sheppard....well that sucks for us.

Is it? Scoot Henderson is absolutely terrible on both ends of the court. You don't have to be high on Sheppard to think he'll DEFINITELY be better than Scoot Henderson has been.

Henderson is a guy that's essentially the same height as Sheppard who can't shoot and doesn't play any defense.
