Yes it is in the strictest sense an ad hominen but this is some sage advice you might want to follow: https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/...e-for-him-again.312084/page-352#post-15236527 Oh yes I'm so upset I'm saying I'm giving up on this thread...
My observations are: "If it's authoritarian, it must be okay" is more like "if it matches my belief, it's okay." Oil is bad, ban it. Abortion is bad, ban it. Smoking is bad, ban it. Books are bad, ban them. Speeding is bad, ban it. Crimes are bad, ban them. Guns are bad, ban them. p*rn is bad, ban it. Drinking is bad, ban it. Gas is bad, ban it. Rainbows are bad, ban them. (and so on and on and on...) "It's my way or the highway" is like the often-used phrase "you are either with us or against us." Palin, George W. Bush, H Clinton, Mussolini, and so on have all used this phrasing. Bush stands out in recent memory with his speech to a joint session of Congress right after 9/11 because it sent a clear message to the world and they all heard it.
Yes we see those who claim they hate both sides and are above it all criticizing the Left for banning things yet saying very little about the Right banning things.
I wasn't referring to Os specifically in that post but he and you are assuming it was. It was a general observation and there are several posters who that post applies to.
It became markedly worse during Trump when Dems were up in a tizzy while the media did its best to wash the stink of guilt for birthing a monster that delivered them historic ratings. Now entire social circles can be cut and pruned and more "toxic" members canceled with a whiff of otherness by "just asking questions." It definitely feels like a zealous fervor especially when there isn't much data to back up an alternative, let alone proper discourse over whether the solution/regulation will have any quantifiable benefits. And I thought we were all post modern secularists now.
Not at all…. Modern Democrats have always embraced using the government to solve issues. It’s your side which is going from small government to big government in order to ban and weaken the things yall don’t like.
