It is what it is with this group. Until some kind of a change comes, THIS is your team. We are deep enough into the season now to know who they are, and unfortunately they simply aren't good enough. They've got to make some changes.
Mediocre team is mediocre. On the fast track to nowhere a 75-win season Spoiler Upcoming: vs Tigers(3), at White Sox(3), Orioles(3), Rockies(2), @ Mets(3), @ Blue Jays(4), @ Twins(3), Marlins(3), Rangers(3), All-star break 22 series (including this one), 10 series wins, 2 against “quality” opponents Blue Jays (33-35) 2-1 Rangers (31-35) 4-3 Rockies (24-44) 2-0 Guardians (43-22) 2-1 Tigers (32-34) 2-1 A’s (26-43) 6-1 Brewers (40-28) 2-1 A’s (26-43) 6-1 Cardinals (31-34) 2-1 Angels (25-41) 3-3 After 12-24 start, got to 20-25(hey, maybe they’re turning the corner!), have since gone 11-13. Coming into today, equally as close to last place as they are first. (Technically closer to last; 5.5 ahead, 7.5 behind) Buyers?
9-23 in games decided by 2 runs or fewer. This team has no fight in them. The most unclutch team in the majors.
Wack 3-3 road trip instead of going 5-1 because of two bullcrap late-inning losses. Framber f***ed up today, but Meyers could've played CF better while Dubon or Singleton played 1B. If management played Doobie there because of a groundball pitcher, then WTF is Jabreu playing defense instead of Singleton?? The lack of attention to detail costs another us another game, and the hole gets bigger. Jabreu should've DNP'd -- just having him on the roster is automatic instant suckage. .
I have the same thought. The point of playing jabreu and singleton together is stupid. It's practically throwing games.
Astros have all the talent they need -- management is just incompetent and worried about pride. Pressly being butt-hurt hasn't helped. Asros can still right the ship if they admit mistakes then move accordingly, but the talent is there.
You’ve got some older pieces on the pitching staff, but in general, this is the same team as last year. The changes are the coach and Maldonado exiting stage left. It’s hard not to blame one of a couple things for the poor showing this year: complacency after long sustained success, a lack of leadership be that from the coaching or player ranks. Yeah, injuries have contributed too, but I don’t think that explains what we’ve seen. This team shouldn’t be this mediocre, but some how they are.
Did Framber single-handedly sabotage this season on 05/20 against the Angels? We were riding high and mofo went rouge in the 5th inn. The team doesn’t seem to respond well since.
The good news in an otherwise forgettable year: Blanco is a legit MLB starter Arighetti looking like a legit MLB starter Diaz is our catcher for the next several years, no sophomore slump Pena has become a legit hitter and our SS for the next several years Meyers finally looking like an everyday CF Altuve looking like he's got a few high quality years left in him Loperfido has a future once the front office gets their head out their ass That's a lot of positives.
You blame the season on a starter???? This bullpen is on pace for 39 losses. Last year we had 22. This lineup has no fight in them late in tight games.
There's no change coming that is gonna satisfy anyone. There's not 1 or 2 moves they could make to turn this into a contender. I've watched this exact team for most of my life and only now that I've been on the other side I recognize it so well. And I'm not mad at all, because they gave me about 8 years of bliss that very few teams ever give. It's not our year...and it likely won't be next year or the year after that. But damn, they redefined that H star logo while they were killing it.
Lord help me to accept the things I cannot change (Astros suck) Courage to change the things I can (do something else with my time) And the wisdom to know the difference.
