Kenni Gomez hit his 4th home run of the season for Fayetteville; the last time he went deep was May 5.
As soon as his k rate dips below 23% he should be on a jet to Corpus. He should probably take Austin Deming with him.
The DSL Orange team won 18-14 over the Dodgers' Bautista team. This game saw the Orange team score 12 runs in the final third of the game (7th-9th innings) and where both teams combined for 34 walks and 24 strikeouts. Roiner Quintana hit a grand slam in the 7th to give the Orange team an 11-8 lead, which they wouldn't relinquish. Quintana is the first player on either DSL Astros team to homer this season. An outfielder from Venezuela, Quintana turns 19 next week and is in his third season in the DSL.
Jose Guedez @ Greenville: 5 IP, H, ER, 2 BB, 4 K... the one hit was a solo homer. He might be the pop-up prospect teams will ask about at the deadline.
I'm not quite sure why the 25 year old shortstop regularly posting 110+ mph EVs with a .934 OPS in AAA is not getting more hype.
Mostly because it’s such a hitters’ league. His .934 ops is 4th on his own team and not even in the top 30 among AAA hitters. That said, he has lowered his k rate this season while maintaining his power which is a great development, and while he is unlikely to be a star, at this point he does project as a legit major leaguer.
Miguel Ullola allowed two runs, one hit (a solo homer), walked three, and struck out nine for Corpus last night. The second run was charged to him after Brayan De Paula gave up a two-run homer. The problem is.. he only went 3.2 innings. Ullola has a hilarious line this season. Every number suggests that his ERA should be at least 2.5-3 runs lower than his current ERA, which stands at 4.67.
5.7 walks per 9 is Ullola’s Achilles. His stuff is sick and he would get k’s in the majors right now, but overall he’s pre-breakout Bryan Abreu without the NFL TE body.
Holy ****...was just looking at Brice's stats due to the draft thread: Only 10 games each and all that sample size entails, but I had no idea his H/R splits were that bad, just about the worst you can imagine, ~1.000 OPS difference.
