Agree 100% It's why I find OP's entire narrative of "we need a big lumbering stiff to stop Wemby because he's tall!" completely laughable tbh. Regardless of where he's stood on offense, his agility and speed make all of those throwback archetypal rim-protectors useless.

Take Clingan at 3 and then pick up another late lottery pick and draft Edey!

We can roll out Sengun, Adams, Clingan, Edey and Jabari as the starting 5 - who would be able to defeat us?

Adams could have been a star if Mr. Triple Double didn't steal all his rebounds and assist opportunities.

He'd be a Top 3 or Top 5 pick with a more consistent 3 point shot instantly....

That is like Sengün being an All NBA guy with a 3 point shot as well.

It is that simple. You have to shoot 3s but I like his post game for sure.

Why do people keep adding on extra inches to his height? Makes it look like they're manipulating things to make him seem better...

edit: Is this video supposed to be showing something other than the basic easy flushes from the dunker spot that any average center can pull off?

I hate these video showing all these dunk and put back clips. I know the dude can dunk with his size. Give me some clips that show his other skills, like a midrange, a turnaround jumper, passing, guardin one-on-one, being ISOed in the perimeter, etc.

He does look and move somewhat like Yao Ming. Would Yao be picked #1 in today's NBA? Yao can shoot midrange and turnaround. Are those games in Edey's bag?

Were there anything other than dunks in the video? I didn't watch to the end, but everything I saw was easy gimme dunks right beneath the basket. Yao had actual offensive game, this guy looks to have Capela's bag (if that.)

I skimmed through the video after about halfway through. The only thing that resembled a skilled offensive move was a couple of hook shots. I didn't see a turnaround jumper Yao was so good at.

The dude does have good mobility with his size. I'd say he's kind of like a less athletic version of Shaq. Most of the highlights are bullying of smaller players at the rim.

We need to find a way to take this guy. Best player in this draft and like Sengun many teams will regret passing him up for inferior players.

He measured 7'3.75 barefoot at the combine. That's 7'5 in shoes - which is NBA lingo (as in, when he puts his shoes on, he will be 7'5). All players that I've ever seen play in the NBA wear shoes. And it is the way everyone's height is referred to over the years.

(I don't actually want the Rockets to pick Edey - but he's definitely 7'5!)

((eg. Tacko Fall is the tallest player ever measured at the combine, and he is called 7'7 (in shoes). More like 7'6.5 --> but his no shoes height is 7'5.25. Doesn't matter - it isn't the height metric that people use when they talk about a players height!! ))

Yao Ming was actually way springier and faster running the floor especially his first year in the nba, which is shocking to think about

He shot 56% threes at the combine. We are making a HUGE mistake not considering this future Hall of Famer. Watch the video….more than ample evidence of being an NBA star.

He has a really good feel for where defenders are in a crowded lane and can make pivots to find open space. He also catches everything, which is not a big-man skill easily dismissed.

I am not sure if that's true. I randomly looked up players from last year's draft. Lively was listed as 7'1 in his college measurement which is the same as his NBA measurement. Miller was listed as 6'9 in college, same as in the NBA.

It doesn't seem to matter whether it's with shoes or not. The college listings are consistent with the NBA's. Edey is listed as 7'4 in college. Very likely he will be viewed as 7'4 in the first NBA year. Maybe he will grow a little afterward. But he's not a teenager anymore.

Anyway, I don't really care about an inch or two. As long as the guy can ball, that's what matters.

He literally measured up at 7'3.75 with no shoes on - 7'5 with shoes on.

Neither Miller nor Lively were measured with or without shoes.

I agree, the height they are listed in college almost always tends to be the height they are listed in the NBA. Because those are 'with shoes' heights.
The only point I was trying to make was that the guy saying Edey is 7'5 is not 'adding inches' to his height - that is literally how tall he is with his shoes on, ready to play basketball.

I think the complaint was that people intentionally inflate a player's measurement to make him sound more impressive. Same thing with Sengun's inches last year. I think all these height arguments are silly.
