How exactly do you get half points? Are you just averaging the statlines for every time he's played a team? And you had the gall to criticise me for using actual points/fg%/3p% in a game? Wow, yeah you don't understand statistics. Do this for most players including their early and late careers and see what happens lmao.

Perhaps. I’m considering other variables as well when I take that scoring average. Regardless he increased his efficiency while playing good defense. While only one player in the entire younger than him and scoring.

Jabari will increase his scoring again to some extent next year while potentially being passed up by some younger guys.

What are some non antiquated metrics I should consider to compare him to his peers in his age group (other 20 year olds) & other power forwards??

…..but he’s not now and that is what the rankings were for.

Scoot’s not better than Bari if the rankings are about “now”. I live in Portland and watched Scoot a lot his rookie season.

Why would you do that to yourself?

Call me a homer, but if Jabari levels up next year he should have a chance to be #5.

On the other hand, you can't lose if the other team does not score.

You and my wife would get along great. I moved her from Colorado and haven't heard the end of it. :(

I mean there’s a whole catalogue of basic and advanced stats. I prefer basketball reference but others like to use the nba advanced stats.

in either case my comment was about him as a top 3 pick as compared to other top 3 picks early in their career… and not necessarily as a “young” player.

I’m not sure there’s really any objective way to say he hasn’t underwhelmed as a top 3 pick relative to what you want/expect. He’s certainly below average against recent comps in that regard.

but he’s NOWHERE REMOTELY close to a bust or bad or without hope or whatever. This is just what it has been so far.

I personally don’t see any all star games out of him in the future but could be wrong and suspect/hope he gets close at his peak and even if that’s it or not even quite that he can become a high impact winning player.

nonetheless … AT THE MOMENT…. I’d prefer Tari or Amen to start at PF over him

I’m one of them Texas “weirdos” that loves the West Coast. Portland and San Diego being my favorite cities. (As places I’d live not necessarily to visit). What part of Portland are you in? How long you been there?

the rest of Oregon is amazing… the coast is incredible. Bend was cool. Crater Lake and the interior around there is cool. Loved it all on my visits.

The access to nature in both CO and OR is hard to beat. I find that close access to nature makes me a less stressed and less negative person ;). Plus the other secret about Portland is that it really doesn’t get very cold, even in the winter months. If you can’t take 5 months of periodic rain, it’s not for you, but it’s pretty great out here the rest of the time, surrounded by greenery, mountains, and an incredible coastline…and some of the best beer and wine in the world. Can be in Yellowstone or Yosemite in a days drive. Portland as a city is slowly coming back from hitting bottom too. Last semi-affordable major city on the west coast…until the Californians ruin it for good.

Then Scoot Henderson should be #9 at best.

Appreciate the perspective. I loved CO, the mountains, hiking, and skiing were phenomenal. However, when it gets -20 degrees for 10-days, this old Texas boy has a hard time. I was in Portland for a conference last Dec, the area we were in was nice, but 5 min walk in any direction was some form of homeless settlement. Went sent my oldest son and his wife on their honeymoon to a really nice area in the mountains and they loved it. I may have to take my wife for a visit to see what she thinks.

I look at basketball reference and statmuse just to get an idea of where players rank versus others from the past where these guys are at in age. To look at Jabari in another way there are no players aged 20 or younger ranked above him in true shooting % for this past season. The only 21 year old players that are: Kuminga, Chet, Amen Thompson, and Sengun.

I find (im a dork) all of this interesting and others stats as well. Hopefully these guys just keep improving and Jabari and the others move up again next year as well.

What do you mean man that’s a lot of typing? Go read it and respond to it, stop feeling insecure in life about people writing more than you.

Lmao, well you claim that because the rest of the post proves you don't make any sense at all. You are comparing total scoring by players who played a different number of games and under different coaching staff and different positions, its total nonsense lmao. Comparing Jalen career 20 pt games vs guys who only played 1 season? Your posts do not make sense, that is all it was saying. I am not surprised you have both reading comprehension issues and issues using data effectively. It is not even close to making sense.
