I'll just ask the obvious question -

If you expect him to be that guy that others want to play with here, why hasn't he been that guy in Brooklyn for the past two years?

I want a win now piece but none of those are worth the cost.

Stay the course. Something better may come along. Or a FA may be enticed - though it would have be sign and trade because we’re heading for cap issues soon.

I just hope Tilman's impatience won't force us into a middle of the pack treadmill team.

Draft Reed and make it the 7 best young prospects.

The obvous answer is Brooklyn doesn't have Sengun, FVV, Jabari, Cam, Tari, Adams, Amen, and Brooks. It isn't that the star wants to play with Bridges, he would want to play with Sengun and three guys that can shoot and defend in the starting lineup along with a strong bench. The Rockets just seem short one star and one guy that can shoot and defend.

This is only hardcore fans thinking, and maybe GM thinking. Players don't seem to think like that--how to build a winning team. What they want is to play with friends and/or big name star players. I don't think our young core (maybe with the exception of Sengun who has attracted quite a bit of attention) have that kind of attractive power. Nor does Mikal Bridges.

Staying the course seem the consensus, i think it makes sense, but every year there is a player available that people did not know was available. Donovan and Marcus Smart should not be the type of guys we are targeting. A couple of years ago the Pacers pulled off a trade for a 22 year old Haliburton who looks like a star level player. This is the type of deal they need to look for and make. A younger potential star player, ~24 or younger. A James Harden from OKC to Houston type trade, a Haliburton type trade, hell even a Kyle Lowrey type trade the Rockets pulled of 15 years ago. This would involve us seeing something from our front office we have not seen before, which is the ability to see existing young NBA talent and win a trade like we've done many years ago.

Reed is the player that I would take with the pick. But if they draft Reed, he's taking over Aaron Holiday's minutes. Eventually, he may become an Austin Reaves or a JJ Redick, but he doesn't move the needle much now. You can get those guys off the street, like we did with Holiday. If you can use this pick with others to get Donovan Mitchell, you do it. Even if you don't think Mitchell is the palyer to take you to the finals, he will always be a plus player whose contract you can move if Luka or Giannis (or whoever y'all are waiting for) shakes loose.
