I think he would fit well. Also, I think being on this team would make life easier for him on court. But he just needs to stay healthy. I would like to know what does Charlotte want for him.
Rockets need Sarr. Trade resigned Sengun and Green and whatever else after trading up for Sarr for Booker and Durant Adams/Sarr Jabari/Eason Durant/Brooks Booker/Whitmore Van Vleet/Thompson
it’s crazy that he’s still only 22yrs old. But yeah he’s played the equivalent of just over two full seasons of games in 5 seasons (only 58 games in the last 2 seasons). If the medical checks out I’d still be willing to take the risk, but if there is a real question I stay away. If LaMelo can stay healthy he still has a chance to be a true star.
Super injury prone … passing interest. Oh shii…salary jumps to $35M next year. His yearly salary will soon exceed the number of games he plays in the season. $35,250,000 $38,070,000 $40,890,000 $43,710,000 $46,530,000
LaMelo is the ultimate guy where the eye test doesn't match the stats. He doesn't seem to make his whole team better on the offensive end and gives back the points he scores by getting hunted as a defender. On top of that he's injured all the time. I see him in pretty much the same light as I do Trae Young--better on paper than in real life.
Can Houston convince Mitchell to stay long term? I think Brooklyn can. Anywhere else is putting assets at risk for a one and done season. Anyway, I think only Bridges can pry Bane away from MEM.
If it’s even remotely possible to get a core player from Memphis give me Ja or JJJ. Much better fits. You can’t have a team all shooters and no one is elite at penetrating from the perimeter. Tari/Bane/FVV/Jabari would collectively be atrocious at getting to the rim. Just Sengun is not enough at all. There’s no championship possible without that skill, unless you have literally the greatest shooting of all time. Replace FVV with Morant or grab JJJ to pair with Sengun. Memphis has the perfect players to pair with our core.
Amen is the guy you eventually start with Bane and hope he becomes elite at getting to the rim--he certainly has the athletic tools, just needs to improve his ballhandling. I see Bane as a much better fit than Ja with what we're doing. JJJ would be good too mainly for his fit with Sengun on the defensive end. In any case, I'd probably take Bane over Jalen long-term. Just don't trust Jalen, whereas Bane is young enough and we already know what he is.
That’s too big a risk for me. You’re banking on a guy shooting 25% from 3 to become elite at getting to the rim with defenders able to sag off him? To me Amen needs time. I think 2-3 years but no one would be shocked if it were 5+ years before that shot is respectable enough for defenders to get closer to him. How’s he getting to the rim? Like Giannis? Maybe if he was 6’10 or something. I think Amen is going to be exactly the player you’re describing but it will take time. Sengun is also learning to shoot. I like Bane as a player but I don’t think there any desperation to acquire that type of player it’s always available. However I do want to roll the dice on Jalen’s shot creation ability. I find his potential to be more rare and we can find safe options later or if Jalen fails.
Houston can convince anyone to stay. Players love Houston. It’s just the price you pay to Cleveland. I wouldn’t give more than Jalen and pick of their choice. The Knicks could offer more, but I would avoid a bidding war.
Cavs trade Donovan Mitchell & Jarrett Allen Rockets trade Green, Sengun, Brooks, Tate, and 1st rounders in 2026 & 2027 Rockets draft Reed Sheppard PG: VanVleet / Sheppard SG: Mitchell / Whitmore SF: Thompson / Eason PF: Smith / Green C: Allen / Adams / Landale Now you have an explosive back court and a grinding front court.
I don't see how this team would be any better than the Cavs teams that keep having early exits in the crappy East--the only way acquiring Mitchell makes even the tiniest shred of sense is to pair him with Sengun in the hopes that they can become kind of a #1A, #1B kind of co-star pair. (And even then, I don't think the timelines or defensive capabilities of the two mesh very well.)
He got to the rim fine. I actually thought we didn’t give him enough opportunities. until he gets his shot percentages up, we are going to have to surround him with four pretty good shooters if we are wanting him to penetrate and dish. In this scenario, I don’t really seen the defender sagging off of him being that effective because he is so athletic that he is going to eat that speed up already be going downhill and then Euro step around them before they can even react.
Strongly disagree. You're basically saying that Cam, Amen, Tari, and Jabari will never be better than Caris LeVert, Max Strus, Isaac Okoro, and Evan Mobley. If that's the case the Rockets have wasted years of drafting.
Darius Garland and Evan Mobley are arguably better than anybody we have right now other than Sengun though (maybe not in the future, but TBD on that). Even if our guys do become significantly better than the Cavs' supporting cast, Mitchell is already in his late 20s. If he doesn't age well he might be deep into his decline phase by the time our young core peaks. Again, it's understandable to acquire Mitchell if we're pairing him with Sengun, who has already proven he could at least be a #2ish guy on a contender, though I still wouldn't love it. But to trade Sengun for him? No thank you.
