    Jordan
    Bird
    Russell
    Chamberlain

You can't be the best ever at your position if you never took your team to the mountain top.

And Russell and Chamberlain were too dominant to leave one off the team in favor of Malone.

    What could've been?

    PG : John Lucas
    SG : David Thompson
    SF : Connie Hawkins
    PF : Len Bias
    C : Roy Tarpley

Russell said that he didn't mind Wilt scoring on him because in the end if his team played it right they would win, and they usually did.

Of course, Russell's teams usually had four or five hall of famers on the court at the same time, while Wilt's had well . . . Wilt.

I'm sure he didn't mind - he had no choice. That still doesn't detract from the fact that Wilt dropped 28 and 28 on his noggin' for their career. :) And as PoodleFur said, Russell had help winning those games. Russell may have gotten the better of Wilt on occasion, but there was nothing anyone could do to stop him anywhere remotely consistently. Not even "the greatest defensive center of all time" could do that.

Malone in his prime was overrated. I'm really surprised by the support he's receiving in this thread. I agree with Barkley to the extent he said Malone had so much success at his position because of Stockton. Besides with Malone on that team, you can bank it that even they wouldn't win a championship because of his cursed presence.

So my order goes as follows.

    PG- Magic
    SG- Jordan
    SF- Bird
PF- Olajuwon (Didn't he play PF during the Twin Tower days? If not, I'm cheating. Hakeem would be my PF. )
    C- Wilt

That's false. Wilt had Hall of FamerS on plenty of his teams, I'm pretty sure he had more than one on ALL of them, he even had 3 teams (Philly 66-68) that were better and equal in HoFers, those teams only beat Russell and the Celtics once. Besides, the main reason why the Celtics had so many Hall of Famers was because they won so much, a HUGE reason why they won so much was Bill Russell.

Forgot to mention the 69 Laker team that Wilt was on with Jerry West and Elgin Baylor, they lost in 7 to the Celtics because Russell simply refused to let his team lose to Wilt and the Lakers. That was the THIRD time Russell beat Wilt despite Wilt getting better stats and having the better team, that was the time the Laker's owner brought in the USC band to play after the "sure" Laker victory. Before game 7 was played he placed flyers on every seat telling the fans how the championship would be celebrated, after one his players told Russell about those flyers he told his team (he was also the coach that year) before the game that there was no way the Lakers would win that game, and they didn't.

Wilt=Greatest INDIVIDUAL Basketball Player of All Time maybe even the greatest INDIVIDUAL of any Sport
Russell=Greatest WINNER in ANY sport of All Time

Who you want on your All Time team depends on what kind of basketball player you prefer, IMO.

ok, forget about the numbers; they're in different eras, different surporting cast. Wilt in an era with no other 7 footer competing, Malone got Stockton & the "system" and long career to be the #2 or maybe #1 on all-time scoring list

if Hakeem play Wilt 1-on-1, I bet Hakeem'd kick Wilt's butt.

Malone V.S. Barkley & Duncan? I'd take Duncan (I mean, put Stockton alongside Duncan or Barkley they'd look even better and you give Malone Parker/K.J. he might not even top10 on the scoring list. even if you want to argue DRob/Duncan, I tell you Robinson helped the Spurs "team" not much on Duncan's game. Imagine if you replace Stockton with the 34yr DRob throuthout Malone's career, Kala might be #20 on the all time scoring list.)

Bird V.S. K.G.? I don't know, Bird could shoot the lights out from anywhere, K.G. has the height advantage and a better defender, ... both can't guard the other.

Kobe's so overrated on "All-Time" list.

    best "individual talant":

    The Dream
    Duncan
    Bird/K.G.
    M.J.
    Magic

Do you think if Hakeem played in Wilt's era, he'd average 50 and 25? Shaq?

50 and 25 was only achieved by Wilt once and no one has come
close to that. So I don't think Hakeem and Shaq could achieve
    that in 50-60s.

Anyway, I'm sure Wilt's team would be pretty ugly to watch then.
He took too many shots. Greatest players need to get
    teammates involved more.
