How can we NOT be excited as Texas fans it seems like everything is happening the right way - I didn't expect this draft to be that impactful but if it is - This dude looks like a first round cornerback if I ever saw one and I'm trying to not be so excited or overstating things... i'm absolutely ecstatic about what our potential is in so many different personnel areas, we may even be better than we anticipated from these draft picks
I think BDN has identified a market inefficiency of players that slip in the draft because their testing numbers are poor relative to what they show on tape.
Hasn't that been a thing forever? ...and on the flipside Mike Mamula gets drafted in the top-10 solely because of his workout?
I definitely hear you, but never forget what happened with Vernon Davis. He went from relative obscurity at Maryland all the way up to the 6th pick in the draft because of his insane workouts. It was crazy. The talking heads were like "Who is this guy?". I'm probably the only one here that remembers. He finished his career in the top 10 of receiving yards for TEs.
He wasn’t a nobody coming into that draft, he was high on my list back in 06 for sure. But he definitely jumped up in the draft after his combine
I will not sit by and stand idle for this Mike Mamula slander. He had a decent 5 years unlike Courtney Brown or worse Vernon Gholston.
I believe Lassiter will start game one. His college performance screamed 1st round pick even before his great start in the last few weeks.
It might happen more than we think - but I'm guessing DeMeco is a big "trust the tape" guy and doesn't give two flips about measurables.
What's the word on how Okudah and Henderson have been performing? I've just been seeing rave reviews for Lassiter from Texans repoters.
DJ Bien Ami was on with Paul Gallant yesterday. He spoke on our CBs. TLDR Kamari has impressed a ton. If all three are tied by opening day then he feels Kamari should get the starting position. It was a good interview. He spoke on John Metchie as well.
From highlights and comments on podcasts I've watched, Henderson is definitely ahead of Okudah. In fact, I haven't heard any legit positive comments about Okudah. Wear and tear from injuries seems to have greatly reduced his margin for error.
I see this happen in both NFL and NBA, so much emphasis on measurables versus can these guys actually play. I love measurables as much as the next guy, but believe they should only be used to affirm what the film is telling your eyes.
