Gotta give Chas more of a chance. He had a bad April then he missed like 20 games with an injury. His playing time has been spotty since his return.
I agree Chas should get at least as much of a chance as Abreu because he is much more likely to turn the corner, but it's tough to put them both on the field together until (unless) they are hitting.
But its not like all those hits are bloops or just finding spots either. He's giving up hard hits as well. One way to avoid that would be more K's... but as long as his velocity and spin are close to the career norms we've seen the last 2-3 years, he'll be fine. His peripherals were crappy at the start of the season which is why I was worried about age-related/wear-tear regression. He's had as much of a workload over the last 4-5 years as any high leverage pitcher in all of baseball... and probably the most post-season games since that Rivera dude up in NYC. At some point, regression was expected... but with more perceived depth in the bullpen this year compared to last year, hopefully he can maintain his peripherals for the rest of the season.
Im not going to argue against the outcomes, they are what they are. I don’t think him pitching in the 9th was why he had better results last night. Pressly has the longest scoreless consecutive appearances and he did it as a middle reliever, so I don’t think it’s a mental issue based on usage. Regression to the mean would suggest he’s going to get better results going forward without any changes and last night was reflective of that.

Well this is a bit ridiculous. A comebacker is a hard hit ball toward the pitcher or the middle of the field. I wasn’t trying to downplay it but was just answering a question that the person had.
It seems Nick Hernandez, the minor leaguer we just acquired, was activated for Mushinski. Barely appeared in the majors, but his AAA numbers the last 2 seasons have been awesome.
