Especially when you know who’s doing the trading.

Cashing in means trading for a big time player not more rookies that take 3 years to find out what you got.

We're sitting pretty with 6 good, young players, pick #3, and future draft capital for a struggling team through 2027.

A good GM should explore his options, but only pull the trigger on deals he will clearly win.

We shouldn't be in a rush. Coach in his 2nd year and turned team/culture around.

Keep adding assets and wait for the deal that is a true difference maker.

Bridges, Butler, insert aging vet are not the answer.

PS. Why would we want to help Memphis get better?

    it’s good either way.

I was sure Brooklyn was gonna be on the mediocrity treadmill and the rest of these picks would be mid-round picks. But I get the feeling maybe something has changed in their thinking. They have the suns’ picks and the Philly picks. Maybe they trade some more players for other picks. Then, frankly they can just look at the picks owed to Houston as a sunk cost and focus on rebuilding because that’s actually the smart thing for them to do if they want to eventually get back to contending status.

we’ll see. But I say keep cashing in on Brooklyn’s stupidity and see how things play out. If they wise up and rebuild it’s still good for us.

I've been on this board saying I dont like Reed Sheppard at 3 but even that would be preferable than trading multiple assets for freaking Mikal Bridges.

Mikal Bridges shot 37% from 3 last year and 38% from 3 his last year in PHX. His contract only runs 2 years then he will be a UFA and will want max money. Trading for him is the height of stupidity we already have a Mikal Bridges at home his name is Dillon Brooks. We also have a superior version of Bridges his name is Tari Eason.

Yeah, like I said, the Rockets won that trade going away.

Rockets get: Victor Oladipo, Rodions Kurucs, Dante Exum, four unprotected first-round picks (Brooklyn 2022, 2024 and 2026, Milwaukee 2022), and four unprotected first-round pick swaps (2021, 2023, 2025, 2027).

    Nets get: James Harden.

A year later they had to move his fat suit to Philly and have been a disaster since - with no end in sight.

That trade is the gift that keeps giving.

But carry on with the negative narrative ....

"The Rockets are consistent in saying they are content on using the #3 pick to net them Reed Sheppard who is the perfect insurance policy to Jalen Green as well as being able to play alongside him for the one month out of the year he plays well. Nice try though, Brooklyn. Enjoy your 30 win seasons."

We can thank Kyrie for being crazy for this. Cuz that team probably wins a ring and stays together if Kyrie just gets the vaccine.

Bridges is basically a mid-range car that's been driven off the lot and got repossessed with 3k miles on the odometer. The longer it sits on the lot, the worse and worse the value is going to be.

There is no market for Mikal Bridges that is much higher than the #3 overall pick this year. Are they going to take 2-3 1st round picks from Cleveland or Knicks that project as late rounders? You're hella punting at that point and *really* making our next 3 Nets picks valuable.

The Nets are ****ed. We don't have to do anything. Bridges doesn't change the trajectory of this team almost at all.

They win one if KD hasn’t had his foot on the line

I think I’ve figured out the galaxy brain cap strategy that led the Rockets to have some interest in a Mikal move:

In summer of 2025, we can have ~$40-50M in cap space.

We could use that space to renegotiate Mikal’s last year upwards by a 1 year lump sum gift of $21M, and then extend him at a discount because of it.

That would allow us to have Mikal on a long term deal at around 17% of the cap, same cap % as Dillon this year.

In this scenario, Mikal would be making the same total money as his max early extension without the renegotiation, $182M/5, it’s just hyper front loaded to the year we have cap space. He loses nothing and actually gets his money much sooner. Still unclear if he would sign tbf.

On that contract, Mikal would have even higher trade value than he does right now.

(To be clear I still think they would only want to do a trade excluding #3 and swapping 25 / 26 / 27 picks for a couple of BKN’s PHX or other team’s picks).

The Nets want 3 firsts for MB. Would they settle for Brooks, #3, and two seconds?

In the end, that's a better offer than they are ever going to get. Even in this draft the player youre getting at #3 is better than 3 late 1sts. But no they don't take that. Bridges is either going to re-up in Brooklyn or force a trade/become a UFA.
