He got hit in the calf by a comebacker and stayed in the game but was having trouble with control. They took him out after that and said that he has a calf contusion.
It was a 103+ MPH linedrive. He was completely smoked and still got the out. And stayed in 2 more innings. Calling it "a comebacker" doesn't do it justice. It will suck if he misses time.
Manager Joe's finest hour and putting Jake Meyers 4th. Have to put the best players right now in key positions of the lineup not from past seasons. If Bregman comes around then he goes back to place of the batting lineup.
Hail Altuve, full of hits. Yordan is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst the league, and blessed is the bat of Alex Bregman. Holy Crane, owner of this team, Prey for the Astros, now and at the hour of season's end. Amen.
Facing Fastball/Slider pitcher Jake profiles getter than anyone against the fastball this year and only behind yainer against the slider, so good time for a day off I remember the days when we used analytics
Did I see a graphic the other night that we are something like 2-21 when behind after the 7th inning?? Man, that used to be our calling card - late inning comebacks.
I see Jake has started 19 games in a row, relies on his legs, there have been few off days, and this is day game after a night game. So in a vacuum, I don't have an issue with giving him a day off, but I agree - look at the pitching/matchup data and plan the day off ahead of time.
Instead of looking ahead by predicting and projecting, the team is looking backward by using the back of baseball cards. By that logic, they should go sign Mad Bum and Zack Greinke to help with pitching. Smh.
Yea, and we have a day off coming tomorrow. If you really want him to have two days off in a row, give him off Friday, when we are likely to have Tucker back
I did not understand Espada PH for Singleton w/ Abreu on Monday because a lefty was on the mound but then leaving Abreu in to face the righty last night instead of PH Singleton.
