As a kid I thought it was stupid. I just had no attraction to this stuff. Took my kids some years ago and I still find it stupid. Then I got divorced and my ex became one of those people who dress up and camp out. Apparently, I was holding her back even if I had no idea that she secretly wanted to be a pirate.

Now that you mention it, my perpetual absence from the Kylo Ren bonanza actually seems right on brand. Carry on.

I grew up in Magnolia - when it was a small town of 1,000. I only went there twice, but the impact that this place still had on my life, however small (horrible traffic every weekend of October and November, stories of King George, etc) makes this a fun watch.

Literally used to live 5 miles from this place.

Yeah, the doc definitely has it's own style - which I'm not a fan of, to be honest. I find it distracting.

camping onsite is the only way to go. I remember the old (underage) days when you could find someone to a buy bottle of wine/mead and then sneak out the back of sherwood forest for a little fun time with the girlfriend. 10/10 would recommend.

I've never done RF single adult style, it's either been me as a kid or me as a parent. Camping and partying all night appeals to me more. We went to Highland Fling and the bars were full of people singing and having a great time. While I was wrangling cranky, hungry, tired kids.

As far as camping goes, I hate sleeping outside on the gulf coast in the heat and humidity, give me an RV and I'm good to go.

Have you tried Sherwood Faire in the Spring near Austin? It is like the old Ref fest used to be.

We have not although we've been meaning to. Scarborough is an easy day trip and we can hit TRF whenever we're down visiting family in Spring. Austin would be either an overnight or a VERY long day trip.

It generates 2m a year....which isn't that much, you could easily make it more fun, update it, and have it generate 3 times that.

Finished it last night. What a terrible human being George Coulam is. Came off as eccentric and blunt in the first episode, but it turns out he's just a ****ing ******* that treats everybody he comes into contact with like ****. I can't believe people put up with that kind of treatment.

2m? That’s absurd. Where did you see that data, the show?

Not even touching the festival, the brand alone should make at least eight figures.

I tried watching EP 2 but couldn't finish. Just seems like too much style, not enough substance.

Do you mean, kind of like an uninteresting dork dressed up like someone who lived 1,000 years ago?

Wife and I finished it yesterday, honestly surprised TRF agreed to this since it doesn't paint George in a good light. He just comes off as a weird, cruel eccentric who won't release that strangle hold on the festival until he's dead. Not the greatest advertisement for the faire or people involved....
