Can someone explain to me the Rockets' purported infatuation with Mikal B. like I'm 5?

Brooklyn is in a really bad situation and fairly desperate so they are leaking BS stories in an effort to enhance the value of some of their guys.

 

he's easily a second option on a championship team. mikal + fvf + brooks = wcf

Just a great shooter with elite defense. Every champion needs them. On a cheap contract for two years after which you can extend.

He's a nice player. That's it. He's good. He would make just about any team better, but that's about all. I'd love to have him, but not at the expense of what has been rumored.

 

Pretty much any team wants him because he's capable of being a 2way starter on a contender. The type of guy that won't be played off the court in the playoffs.

The Nets just aren't getting the offers they expected for him from the Rockets or anyone else. So, they have to keep spreading buzz to try to drum up a bidding war.

I get the feeling the Knicks will make the biggest offer for him because they feel like they're one piece away with Brunson.

 

It isn’t really that much about Bridges as it is about the Phoenix picks. He’s trying to get Bridges because that’s probably the best player on their roster. The point is that Stone doesn’t want those Nets picks this close to all of the previous ones. He wants more time to evaluate our current players. He doesn’t see that star player on the trade horizon so he wants to push our draft capital back, hence trading the Nets picks back to them for the Phoenix picks.

Yeah the Rockets really should be going after Luka and Ant and SGA. Stone too stupid to realize these are superior players and the Rockets should ask these teams if they will take the 3rd pick for them. If that's not enough the Rockets can add Tate and Brooks. Not any of the young players though, they are too valuable. But surely these teams would be glad to then for a chance to grab Reed "clearly next Curry" Sheppard
