Memphis can't take Brooks back after scapegoating him as a distraction at the end of the season while Ja had been fighting kids and pulling guns on IG. I wouldn't stand for it if I were Brooks and it's a bad look for Memphis too.

If every team wants to trade up for clingan, why don’t we just draft him…for ourselves?

ugh. I don’t care if he’s Ime’s guy I don’t want Smart here flopping the place up.

Just take your pick at three. Don’t get cute and try to squeeze a pick out of it. Or some low impact veteran which you can also acquire in free agency. Just take the pick.

I worry about Ime wanting to be a contender so bad that he screw things up. This team needs to be patient. Also, you can’t have Marcus Smart and DB, they’re the same guy!

Because we already have a young, high-caliber starting center.

With all due respect, if we give up pick 3 to get back Brooks and Smart, I'm ok with that.
I'm not sending a future first as well.... maybe we give them back their 2025 (ie, ditch swap rights) and they give us one of the PHX future 1sts

Sheppard will be gone by #9. He blows everyone out of the water analytically and some draft analysts have him #1 on their board. Not saying he will go #1 but he’ll be long gone. Some people thinking Luke Kennard is some replacement is foolish. Kennard only shoots and that’s it. Does nothing else.

Ime wants Smart, he was a tone setter on Ime's Celtic teams. I'm hoping for #9/Smart/Kennard for #3 and filler. Pick Knecht at #9. Shooting and perimeter defense things this team was missing last yr.

No, that's not it. I think they want an athletic piece in the front court.....look for them to target Kel'el Ware if they trade back.

I think with all the young, athletic centers in the West; Lively, Chet, Wemby, they want the ability to matchup. We need an athletic big

    Here’s the deal:
Ja Morant for #3, Jalen Green, Jabrari Smith, and two future firsts.
    Lineup:
    FVV
    Morant
    Brooks
    Eason
    Sengun

If we trade back and still get Sheppard or Clingan I'm a happy fan.

To move up from 9 to 3 Memphis would have to give us the equivalent of a #6 pick or so. A veteran with that kind of value.

Basically this. They've done due diligence and feel confident their BPA will be there at #9 and are just looking at what they can get by trading down. That's what happens with these relatively small trade downs. It's less about the assets they get back. They just want to be compensated for getting their guy later.

More than anything, this is a signal their BPA is likely not someone currently projected to go very high in the draft.

I would be surprised if the trade was for Marcus Smart. The Grizzlies gave up a lot to get him and the fit is odd for us. I guess a trade for a young guy like GG Jackson would make more sense. But, again, the main reason they do the deal is because their guy is available later.

    Considering 6 & 9 = #3....

No way is Smart worth anything close to the #6 pick.

No, we all know that's what you want. After all, you almost never post about anything else. We don't know what the Rockets want.
