Not sure why the Rockets would be interested in Clingan. He's just a poor man's Brook Lopez... oh wait...
I pick Donovan Clingan. His defensive presence is crazy plus he is tall. He is the reason Unconn won national championship.
I'm sure he'd make an excellent 3rd string center... but spending the 3rd pick on a 3rd string center should get the entire FO fired on the spot.
I think this is *probably* true, but I also think the answer Castle gave about playing PG/fit with MEM (with Ja) weren't exactly the best PR answers (and kinda implied the stories shared by those tweets), so I'm not 100% sure. In reality, he probably does want to play PG, but also happy to do whatever the team asks him. Probably like an Amen thing. Would be nice if his camp could clear that up 100% just to ease any concerns. Agreed about needing a future PG. As I said above though, I don't really see that in Castle (and not just because of ballhandling/shooting stuff), though I know others disagree. He seems more like a good passing/playmaking wing, like an EG or Iggy. I do think Amen can likely handle that role (as could possibly a Reed, Topic, etc), though depending on how the team is built, I suppose a traditional PG might not be as important.
Lopez could have possibly helped us make the play in this season (23/24) Would have been a great short term signing
I guess I have another guy I can add to the "maybe Rockets can draft this guy in a future draft to replace Adams" pile: https://www.si.com/college/purdue/b...-2024-americup-purdue-boilermakers-basketball (this guy needs a lot of work, but just saying there seem to be options for a 15-20 MPG backup center if that's what you really want on this team in the next few years)
Im pretty sure they have privately. I like the quiet though when it comes to the prospects they prefer.
https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...r-zaccharie-risacher-and-other-top-prospects/ 1. Alex Sarr | Pro comp: Jaren Jackson Jr. 2. Zaccharie Risacher | Pro comp: Michael Porter Jr. 3. Stephon Castle | Pro comp: Jrue Holiday Castle consistently drew the toughest defensive assignments for title-winning UConn last season as a freshman and made a name for himself as a defensive stopper who is elite at the point of attack. That has been Jrue Holiday's calling card as an NBA player. The big leap here is the playmaking ability Holiday has proven over his career. Castle did not show that often at UConn but has the calm and vision to become a viable point guard in time. That, along with his shooting, might be the biggest swing skills that make or break his future NBA stardom. 4. Ron Holland | Pro comp: Mikal Bridges At Villanova, Bridges molded himself into one of the most reliable 3-and-D weapons at the college level before assuming that role -- then much, much more -- in the NBA. Holland doesn't have the same shooting stroke just yet -- yet! -- thus the comparison here is largely in frame. Bridges, 6-6, has a listed 7-foot-1 wingspan, while Holland, who measured 6-6.5 without shoes, had a 6-10.75 wingspan at the combine. Long and wiry, the two have big frames and big games with star power. 5. Nikola Topic | Pro comp: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander The scouting report for SGA as a prospect: crafty, smooth, downright slithery. That's copy+paste what I see when I watch Topic. He doesn't win with burst or athleticism. He wins with smarts and leverage and sees the game at a high level. His passing and feel make him one of the most well-rounded players in this class. 6. Matas Buzelis | Pro comp: Lauri Markkanen 7. Reed Sheppard | Pro comp: Davion Mitchell Shooting 52.1% from 3-point range as a freshman at Kentucky is the headliner on Sheppard's resume, but it's his spectacular defense and playmaking that really shines and helps his projection. That was where Mitchell thrived at Baylor and what has helped him carve out a useful role in the NBA. Sheppard's shooting and playmaking seem to be in a tier above where Mitchell was, given that Mitchell was a later bloomer. 8. Dalton Knecht | Pro comp: Josh Hart 9. Devin Carter | Pro comp: George Hill 10. Tidjane Salaun | Pro comp: Jalen Williams
these are the worst comps I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t make up more inaccurate comps lol.ron holland = Mikal Bridges? Kenecht = Josh Hart? Topic = Shai? lol. Just…stop
A Sarr and Wemby frontcourt would be interesting. Or maybe they want Sheppard and think the Rockets will take him? And why would Atlanta want Clingan when they already have Capela and Okongwu?
If the Hawks move back with the idea of grabbing Clingan that would be great for us if the Grizz also want Clingan. If the Hawks make that trade they may be willing to trade up one pick to keep the Grizz from jumping them for Clingan. That'd be ideal since we could get them to bid against each other. If we move back just one spot we could still get RS and pick up some additional assets.
Well it seems to me Ime just wants to make the playoffs with his whole “I’ve never missed the playoffs before.” He just seems impatient to me, and he should know better coming to a very young team that a really good team don’t just happen overnight.
