Dr. Anthony Fauci Appreciation Thread

Today was a day when facts triumphed over quack conspiracy theories. Good that Fauci busted the rumor about him getting money from big pharma.

Looking forward to new legislation, policies, or recommendations to prevent or better prepare for the next pandemic from these very serious people.

 

Fauci wasn’t perfect but people seem to forget this was a novel virus that the medical community didn’t even know existed until 2019.

When dealing with an airborne communicable disease common sense is to quarantine and limit the spread of airborne droplets. The problem is how do you balance that out with keeping an economy going, children educated and society going.

These were difficult calls but rather than look at them rationally like everything else these days they were relentlessly politicized and wrapped in all sorts of other things.

 

What COVID 19 showed me is we as a society are not ready for the next pandemic and most likely political leaders will politicize the issue again preventing any widespread comprehensive response.

Don’t Look Up is looking more like a documentary than satire.

We definitely need to do more gain of function research, preferably in a heavy populate area like NYC. We need to get ahead of the next pandemic by studying these types of viruses. And if we can't get it done here in the US, the government should fund a research institute who can take it overseas and study it there. The director of NIAID should fully support this research, even if the most competent president bans such ideas.

 

Covid 19 showed me that the adults in charge will lie and deceive for whatever agenda fits their purpose and their blind sycophants will lockstep in whatever narrative, even if its obviously incorrect.

Indeed I am. No matter how right someone things they are and how wrong they think the other person is, the path leads to the same place.

Tell me more about what you knew to be “obviously incorrect” about COVID-19 in the first half of 2020.

 

You are really into projection. You must get this a lot.

 

Wearing surgical masks when not having symptoms was one of the dumbest things.

Shutting down beaches, parks, boat ramps, etc was another.

These are the most obvious.

But go on, keep telling me 'but we didn't know' when you were over there acting like you were an infectious disease expert.

 

In the first half of 2020, we didn’t know and neither did you. Caution was warranted, and difficult decisions needed to be made. It’s good to look back in retrospect and evaluate whether another course would have turned out better. But mistakes were bound to be made given the unknowns we were dealing with.

 

Fauci did a great job and we were fortunate to have his guidance during the pandemic.

 

Thank God for Dr. Fauci or we’d all be injecting ourselves with bleach and using UV lights to “cure” it.

 

All this was precaution. Hindsight is 20/20
