That's offense. Sheppard isn't built like a fire hydrant like FVV. I just don't think you can have Reed and Jalen as your guards without a rim protector. 2 of Amen, Tari, and Jabari can only do so much.

    That is the micro level.

On a macro level, the NBA, the Players Asscociation and who else are doing their best to promote the lottery players.

    • It is a business for them, and behind all that charade and circus, those are all teenagers or kids even that need heavy development.........some can do development, guys like Stephen Silas cannot.

    • You do not have to sell me on Sheppard because he is a well known recruit and very solid in his numbers and his profile.
    • College is college.
    • But that is all there is to it, he has to go out there and compete against grown men, and the best grown men in the world.
I am one of the few that got really tired of all that Draft Process, it is a good topic but I am truly just tired of it and want to talk Playoff basketball.

    :2025:
Sengun and Green can create for others
Amen at point F will be able to create for others
Reed can set up an offense or increase the pace. He is a cerebral guard.

I don't think height would be an issue. When we played against Beerka, Shai, Haliburton, or any tall PG, Brooks and Amen carried the responsibility not FVV.

    2025-2026 season
    3pt %
    Sengun, 34%
    Smith, 39%
Amen, 1% (only shoots one 3pt every 40 games)
    Green, 35%
    Sheppard, 40%

    It will work.

I want Sheppard and a young big 7'+ out of this draft. Dream draft = Sheppard + Clingan

2021 - The Flash and Style Duo (Green / Sengun)
2022 - The Gritty Duo (Smith / Eason)
2023 - The Athletes Duo (Thompson / Whitmore)
2024 - The Great White Hype Duo (Sheppard / Clingan)

I remember when the Rockets played the Grizzlies this year they were killed by Luke Kennard’s three point shooting. They couldn’t keep up offensively because they couldn’t make any threes. Then you add Desmond Bane and a possible Reed Sheppard, it’s going to be the same story again along with other teams. The Rockets getting killed by the three point shot while they continue to shoot bricks.

I would want the same, but Edey instead of Clingan.

I would be cool with Edey if that's who they chose.

I like the defensive wings on this team. Feels like we can take on any top player in the league and marginalize their impact, especially if any of the following double-team a guy, he's gonna have to get rid of the ball:

    Dillon Brooks (6-7)
    Amen Thompson (6-7)
    Tari Eason (6-8)
    Jabari Smith Jr. (6-11)

All 4 of those guys can keep you in check. Put them all together - YIKES!

I'd love for Udoka to have them competing against each other for the DPOY Award. That would be F'ing awesome!!!

(Side Note: I think the defensive impact is the big reason I want to see a guy like Clingan on the team. I want one of those monsters out there where you think, if they attack the paint, he's gonna punish them. I miss those days with Olajuwon, Willis, Mutombo, Yao, etc.)

One thing I have to say about Brooks is that he was a great contributor to wearing Wemby down when Alpi dominated Wemby.

I guess it depends on how you project Sheppard's defense. While Reed is not as strong as FVV, he is faster and taller. He will have problem with stronger guards but speed is probably more important than strength for perimeter defense. My concern is his lateral footspeed. That will determine how good a defender he will be. Anyway, I agree that he would fit better with Amen than Jalen. And honestly, I have more confidence in Amen than Jalen in their developments.

I’m ready to talk about a top 10 pick next year from the Nets while the Rockets are in the playoffs. I’ll do it again next season. Then one last season after that.

The Rockets should be able to parlay all of these assets into future picks at some point. Annnnd if they find themselves a top 5 team could stretch a run of success for many years using those said future picks to get cheap talent to insert into the lineup.

It would almost be the opposite of the Morey years in a way.

I liked Morey, but I am enjoying building through the draft also. You get the players on the way up, not on the way down...

Daryl was otherwordly... He was charged with a seemingly impossible task. Reload, no rebuild...and, win. The NBA had to take at least one title away from us, while going against one of the most stacked dynasties of all time. So, DM the GM was awesome....and a rousing success.

A rebuild is a broad venture with a certain margin of error...So far, Stone/Eli have been damn good. A great coach, and sweet core of talent, with a load of assets providing flexibiility to get there. They have a great eye for talent. Now, let's see how the crucial consolidation deals/moves for veteran studs are handled.

Shead, Dillingham, Kolek (and Sears but he returned to school) have shorter WS in this class

Monta Ellis, Eric Maynor, Jordan Bone, Melo Trimble the same or worse than RS.
