It isn’t this simple. No, Egypt (like almost any other nation) doesn’t want a flood of poor people from Palestine moving into Egypt. However, that isn’t the only reason none of the neighbors around Palestine won’t let them in. These nations don’t want to be complicit with what Israel and ethnic cleansing. Also we are talking about 2.3 million people just in Gaza.
LMFAO - I know we took your land and forced you out to establish a Jewish state, have controlled what doesn’t and does come into our territory that we let you stay on - but the problem here is your poor conduct ….get the **** out of here!
Neighboring Arab states have taken plenty of Palestinian refugees in the past. Where was the “sorry, we don’t want to be complicit in ethnic cleansing” reasoning then? Arab states don’t want Palestinian refugees because they have taken hundreds of thousands in the past and they have routinely subverted governments (Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait) and been destabilizing forces in those countries. Arab countries have either felt that directly or have seen it and learned from it. But yea, “don’t want to be complicit in an ethnic cleansing” sounds like a nice excuse now.
A fear of allowing hundreds of thousands of poor Palestinians into their country - is certainly part of why other countries are not taking them in. So is the fact that in many cases Palestinians have gone to other nations and been radical; tends to happen when you take a group of people, remove them from their land and keep them in territories with very limited rights… the reason is like the Middle East is - it’s complicated, and not As simple as you are spelling it out to be - (I’ve pushed back against the Noble Arab depiction by some on the left). The West way over simplifies the Middle East, which is why Western foreign policy in the region has been horrendous. I promise you it isn’t as simple as “those Palestinians are bad apples”, as that is part of it, but far from all of it. A lot of it is that countries like Jordan and Egypt are afraid of an independent Palestinian state forming in their own nation. Seems far fetched but half of Jordan is Palestinian and there are many more in the other regions.
From the looks of things israel is going into another ceasefire with nothing to show for it. Who could have predicted that. All those innocent palestine folks died and Hamas is still standing.
These types of things can break down so easily, ask Carter, Reagan, Clinton and Obama. Having said that - this shows leadership and fingers crossed.
I would like to hope this ceasefire works and all Of the hostages freed but I don’t have much faith in it.
Biden folks took the negotiations they were having in private and blasted them to the public and blind slided bibi. It's actually pretty savy from the WH and you can see they really want the war to end.
Bibi wants hamas to survive so he can point to them being around for a reason a 2 state solution isn't possible. These folks @AroundTheWorld don't get it why bibi has been funding hamas for years now. Hamas gives Israel diplomatic cover for why they can't do a 2 state solution. In mean time they'll keep building settlements in west bank while pointing to hamas. They all need each other @Nook
Pretty funny to see the state dept claim this is an israeli proposal and its hamas as the final hurdle to get this deal done. meanwhile satanyahu continues to reiterate that he wont stop the mindless slaughter. all along the deal is similar to the one hamas agreed upon weeks ago. even the average american is picking up on this nonsense.
Except that it’s not true, Israel just said Biden has dementia and is completely wrong he must be bending you over daily for you to be in such love
