other countries where the ruling regime has imprisoned the opposition leader include Russia, Cambodia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Venezuela https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/...ntries-recently-prosecuted-opposition-leader/
I too find myself thinking about Rome all of the time ... but I am more of a Empire guy than a Republic guy.
This is what happened when trump "questioned" the election system: And as trump is "questioning" the judicial system... Trump supporters try to doxx jurors and post violent threats after his conviction On social media and web forums, users called for jurors, judges and prosecutors to be killed after the former president was found guilty on 34 felony counts. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/do...-jurors-violent-threats-conviction-rcna154882
Heh... washington examiner. Always spouting disinformation. But as you have already been corrected... trump hasn't been "imprisoned" (and likely won't). But if he does get sent to prison, "the ruling regime" didn't send him there, but rather America's legal system did. A legal system based on processes such as files being raised, reviewed and approved by a grand jury, then brought to trial where a prosecution team and the defendant's legal team argue their respective cases in front of a jury of twelve. btw, that jury is reviewed and approved by both the prosecution and defense. And in this case, the jury found the defendant guilty of all 34 felony charges. And btw, trump bears the biggest responsibility for committing crimes he was just found guilty. Not "the ruling regime" but the criminal himself.
Not just anyone, primarily former presidents convicted of 34 felonies as part of a scheme to get elected and then fomented another scheme to remain in power. Also, a political party that permits, participates, and promulgates the lies of said convicted felon.
Trump, with zero remorse for his crimes, deserves to be jailed, but the judge has yet to rule on that. The State of NY isn't a "ruling regime". It's a state with democratically elected leader. Also, if Trump is jailed, the United States will join these democratic countries that have jailed their highest civilian leaders: South Korea, Israel, France, Italy, Taiwan, Peru, and Brazil. The US stood above them all with high-quality leaders until Trump. Trump and his enablers has lowered the US status to their level (probably lower.)
Except I heard from Tucker Carlson that Russia is great and so much nicer than the US. Also for a guy imprisoned Trump is still able to fly around the country and give speeches.
Other strong Democracies that have held their rulers accountable for their crimes - Israel, France, Italy, Croatia, Peru, South Korea, and more... https://time.com/6984228/trump-convicted-world-leaders/
Other countries where the chief executive can’t be held accountable for crimes: Russia, China, North Korea, the Mongolian Empire.
The problem with a lot of the richest of the rich is that they want more and more and more money. They aren't satisfied with millions of dollars to spend a month. When you have those types swaying politicians to change policies everyone else's lives are affected in a bad way. If business owners can cut benefits, cut safety regulations, cut vacation time, cut wages, and expect their employees to work 60 hours a week to keep their jobs, then they will. It saves them money, yet puts the workers in a more dangerous environment, with a job they can't afford to lose, even if it means they can't spend quality time with their families. Often they have to work years to even get a couple weeks of vacation time. Then you have the businesses who limit hours to keep from having to pay any benefits at all, hire contractors to supplement, and end up forcing desperate people to work more than one job to survive, and still not being able to afford healthcare, get benefits, and get paid vacations. It's sad really. It could get so much worse if the 1% had their way, and screwed everyone else to fatten their bank accounts by coddling up to and donating millions to guys like Trump, to help them. It's Trump's vision as well. He's all about himself, and nobody else. It reminds me of stories I read from the Great Depression, where rich farmers used and abused the destitute and starving families searching for work. They barely survived on the pay they were given, and worked from sunup to sundown, and still couldn't afford a place to live other than a cardboard makeshift home in camps along the roadsides. The wealthy didn't have a heart or soul. They looked at those poor Americans with disgust, and treated them no better than stray dogs.
