Yes I am and okay with it. We need leadership and every asset we give has a major flaw. Even #3 will be an overpay that we can’t afford to extend long-term as a role player. Let’s be led by a proven all star veteran with a winning mentality. Let the talent we have learn how to win and have expectations from him as his career winds down. We are moving players that play in his spot. Butler success is a lot more than his on court play. proven, worn, experienced vs promise and overpaid
Thinking about it, if Donovan asks out, why wouldnt Denver offer a swap with Murray? I hear Garland wants out, Denver needs to make improvements somewhere. Denver gets Donovan Mitchell Cleveland gets Jamal Murray, Dillon Brooks Houston gets Darius Garland Salary filler and assets would have to be discussed and agreed upon but it should make everyone better. The worst fit there is Garland in Houston as we would have to find a home for Fred and i was just trying to squeeze us in to a trade. I do think a Mitchell for Murray swap makes a lot of sense(if spyda wants out) though.
I think Denver is really big on loyalty and trying to keep the same core together as much as possible--but I guess you never know.
Damn could we acquire him for some other team? We can send them Brooks + Landale + Uncle Jeff. Maybe Nets would take Lavine for Cam Johnson and DFS. We replace Brooks, Jeff and Jock with Cam Johnson and DFS. Pretty great upgrade.
Garland for 3 and FVV works cap wise. I believe either one of them will stay in Cleveland. The Cavs can get much better offers than Houston for him.
Bulls would have to include 1sts for me to consider taking on that Lavine contract. And if the injuries are career impacting I’m not even considering a LaVine deal.
Oh man no, we don't take Lavine unless we're about to start tanking. That contract is dead, they've been trying to move it for 2 years.
This is a buy low candidate that I would seriously consider if the Bulls are just looking to dump him. He is coming off of an injury and offers Jalen Green insurance. How desperate are the Bulls to really dump him? So I would propose Dillon Brooks & Steven Adams for Zach Lavine. This frees up a starting spot for Tari Eason and minutes for Whitmore/Thompson at small forward. I would bring Lavine off the bench to push and compete with Jalen Green (this was role I had envisioned for KPJ until his incident). Rockets add much needed scoring punch. This would allow Jock Landale to remain the backup to Sengun. Rockets now have more draft possibilities at #3 pick and a threat to draft Clingan, Risacher or Sheppard. Which could help trade leverage for the pick if they wanted to trade down. I would not give up any 1st round picks and probably would not do any pick swaps for Lavine. I would try to get assets back from Chicago if possible for helping them get off of that contract. Rockets are trading bad contract in Brooks for a worse contract with Lavine. Chicago free up future cap space and gets rid of malcontent. - Rockets acquire Zach Lavine (maybe future draft capital as gratuity ) - Bulls add Brooks, Adams & #44 pick
I don't want LaVine on the roster at all--I would only trade for him to send him to a third team OR buy him out, and only then if we're getting something good for our trouble.
I am open to trading Dillon + Adams / Landale + Tate + #3 for whatever "star" that can get us (probably a SF or wing) or some combo of players (as are most of us on this board). I think that's doable and pushes us to a playoff team. I want to come out of this draft with Kel'el Ware (IND). I think that kid has superstar potential. FVV - Amen Thrilla - vet 3 & D (Hield? lacks D... TWSS) "star" - Whitmore Bari - Tari Sengun - Adams (or Londale) - Ware
I don't necessarily want him either but you can do far worse as a backup and at the right discounted price.
