I don't think that's the case. Here are players that have made it to the conference finals in the past 5 years without an elite scoring teammate

    1.Haliburton
    2. Butler
    3. Luka (2022)
    4. Young
    5. George

Unless we're getting Ja Morant or Luka back in a trade, we're gonna take a big L if a trade happens.

Just draft Sheppard, at worst he'll be an elite role player (and we need shooting anyways), at best he can be a Klay Thompson lite.

I just don't wanna see this guy go to the Spurs and have him and Wemby haunt us for a decade.

Pass on Zion what has he shown or proved since coming into the league.

And people talk so much about spacing this and spacing that imagine a front court of Zion and Sengun smh

How far is Zions range 10’ft?

What has Zion shown you that makes you say he can lead a team to the Cinference Finals?

He has never displayed anything physically or anything skill set wise to make you make a statement like that come on @Nook

Also what would that mean about Sengun if we acquired Zion?

No way they can play together it’s all about spacing remember

Shouldn’t a good GM always ‘shop the pick’ to see if someone will overpay?

CP3? We’re still paying for that craptastic splash. I know that wasn’t Stone but I’m talking about the Tillman Rockets.

Harden was slightly better but then we crapped even that up by giving the Cavs the best active player for crap.

More recently it’s about overpaying for FVV and Brooks (and 4 years?!?

Rockets looking for a star with the #3 pick like the Lakers are looking for a star trying to trade Austin Reeves and some Jeanie Buss nudes.

Let's just keep the #3 pick and include Sengun. Done ;)

I could see us trading Sengun to land “a star” with us drafting Clingan at 3, it makes sense based off the comments Clutch has made on the FOs valuation of Sengun long term.

I could even see us moving BOTH Jalen and Sengun in that scenario

Mitchell is a very good player - possibly even a Hall of Famer.

However, he isn’t good enough to lead a team to where the Rockets want, not as a #1option.

Defensively he isn’t Young bad - but he is bad.

Sign him as a max free agent? Absolutely…. Trade for him? No - I’ll pass.

No on Harden and Mitchell being the same.

It comes down to whether you believe he can be the best player on a team that wins the Finals. I do not.

Read the rest of what I said.

I am not a Zion fan. He has the talent and ability to lead a team to a title - but he lacks the other ingredients like desire, work ethic and discipline.

From a talent standpoint - he could score 30 points a night on scary efficiency if he had a love for basketball- but he doesn’t.

Yep, I think he has the abilities to will a team but I surely would not describe it as 'leading the team'......

Leadership does not come naturally to him, it might still happen but not now.

Sad to say this but once his athleticism is starting to decline, he is toast.....that is the sad part.

Same was the decline of a certain Dwight Howard, he was just so useless.

He can still pass, that is the thing he has over Dwight.

Clutch (perhaps Roosh too, it's been a while) has hinted that some in the FO don't like Senguns fit long term because of his pick and roll defense/inability to be a rim protector - this was before last season started. They have said something along the lines of - if a star becomes available Sengun could very well be on the table, might even be the first trade chip put on the table.

None of this is said outright because this isn't something our FO is trying to have reported. so there's no tweet or article written on it, but it's been murmured on the playback channels over the year.

For me, that depends on the price, and how sure we'd be we could land him in FA. If we can get him at a reasonable enough price, with an extension in place instead of taking a big gamble of him being traded elsewhere/extended elsewhere or signing elsewhere in FA, I'd hope we'd do it.

He's not a top 5 player, not someone who can individually lead a team to a ring like Jokic or Giannis. I agree. So yeah don't gut your team if that's the cost, certainly not without an extension in place - I wouldn't bother trading for him at all with an extension.

I want Stone to add Williamson and Mitchell, while keeping Jabari, Whitmore. Then go out and add Lowery in FA to go along with FVV. I love Sengun but would give him up along with Green to get these 2 guys. I don't want Mitchell without an extension though.

That is like Cavs asking Garland for Chet Holmgren and Jay Dub.

    Or Wemby straight up.

The third pick in this draft equals like a 6th or 8th pick in a draft with Superstar potential.

Those thoughts were probably said before Sengun started beasting and proved he is an all star level talent at only 21 yrs old.
