Jose Abreu getting released would solve One Huge Problem.

    AAA
0-7 3 Ks Jose Abreu still the same.

I think Sugarland Players wishes Jose Abreu is gone and Joey Loperfido returns. Lol

Edinson Batista was credited with a 6-inning complete game shutout as the Tourists' game in Hickory was called after 6.5 innings. Batista allowed two hits and struck out six in Asheville's 3-0 win.

I'm not saying the Astros SHOULD bench Joey.

I'm saying they HAVE benched him so just send him down already

You have no idea. Let’s just say Joliet is far wilder than you could imagine. Joliet is like the AAA version of the city of Chicago. All the people too crazy for Chicago or who have felonies end up in Joliet.

Cam Fisher hit his 7th home run of the season for Asheville. This was his first hit this month.

Entering tonight, Fisher was 0-May. He was 0-50 this month with 15 walks, 34 strikeouts, 4 stolen bases, and 3 runs scored. Overall, he was 0-52 since his last hit, which was a double in the 6th inning against Greenville on April 30. Fisher grounded out in his first at-bat to stretch his May line to 0-51.

Glad he is doing well. There were some concerns he may not come back in 2024.

With all the AAAA pitching and out of options guys who won’t make the team on the current 40 man roster, the next Rule 5 class won’t present a roster crunch for the Astros, but here’s how I see them in terms of risk to be drafted if left unprotected:

High risk: OF Pedro Leon, P Miguel Ullola

Medium risk: P Colton Gordon, SS Shay Whitcomb, P Julio Robaina

Low risk: P Alex Santos II, OF Quincy Hamilton, IF Will Wagner, P Ryan Gusto, P Misael Tamarez, P Aaron Brown, P Cesar Gomez

Minimal risk: C Luke Berryhill, P Cole McDonald, PJayden Murray, P Jairo Solis, P Rhett Kouba, 1B Jordan Brewer, OF Colin Barber, C Miguel Palma, OF Logan Cerny, OF/IF Rolando Espinosa, P Jaime Melendez, P Adrian Chaidez, P Bryan De Paula

Pending Minor league free agents are not listed, which includes Jesus Bastides, who is having a great year in AAA and would be in consideration for a 40 man add. I’m sure there are a few other prospects in the lower levels that will be eligible but they are not a risk to be taken. My guess is that Leon, Gordon, and Ullola are added (if not traded).

Colin Barber hit his 5th home run of the year for Corpus.

It's just too bad that he's never been able to stay healthy at any point in his career.

Brice Matthews is 2-4 today in the FCL, so he's gotten hits in all of his rehab games so far.
