Yes and no. It really wasn't that he wanted that, but that he believed for a time that blacks and whites could not live together in peace, particularly in the South. Frederick Douglass, a stranger to Lincoln, then political ally, then friend, deepy opposed this idea of colonization, where America would have other lands to send black people to after the war. Liberia and Haita were both part of this operation, but it was very problematic even though many blacks volunteered. Eventually, activists like Douglass convinced Lincoln to stop pushing for this and help secure black freedom in America. Now would have Lincoln pushed for the 14th, which did so much, including drastically changing citizenship? Nobody knows the answer to that.
This is like Jack Handey "Deep Thoughts" history - thanks for this contribution. Liberia was founded when Abraham Lincoln was 13 years old.
Only to a maga. Since they are also the group that rioted at the US Capital and tried to overturn a US election.
Except I didnt say Lincoln founded Liberia. I said that attitude which was widely shared by many in thr 19th C. not just Lincoln.
Who would have thunk that the maga supreme court justice and his wife even lie about things like this?
So even accepting that Alito has terrible neighbors (who knows for sure and who knows what he and his wife does to the neighbors), a sitting ussc justice flew a flag indicating support for the insurrection.
I wonder what the maga alitos new version of this story will be? Will justice alito blame it on his dog next?
^ Every time this gets bumped I keep thinking a major decision has been made because you know that's what the title of this thread states.
