That Vancouver Edmonton game was epic. The level of play in that series is ridiculously good. If this Edmonton team never wins a Stanley Cup, they might go down as the greatest, most talented team ever to not win a Cup. And I almost really want Vancouver to win the Cup. Arturs Silovs would go down as one of the greatest NHL debuts ever. That guy has played so well in goal for the Canucks. He had only played in 9 regular season NHL games before the playoffs.
A couple of weeks ago, NY was the shoo-in for Stanley Cup champs. Last night they looked like complete garbage.
They got a good draw with terrible Washington (who fell into the playoffs), then had a deceptively close Carolina series with a lot of 1 goal games. Now they were punched in the mouth by the Panthers suffocating blue line defense. I hope they can adapt and make a good series. I think Dallas is going to hang 7 goals a game on Edmonton in the West. We'll see if I'm right in game 1!
This didn't age well...at least for Game 1. I hate when the OT games end so quickly (after the start of whatever OT period it is). There's no time to build up the tension. Last night, I was still coming off the disbelief that The Great One would eat pizza in between OT periods...and boom!, end of game 32 seconds in.
