His plate discipline has actually much improved this season and isn't the reason why his numbers have been disappointing. imo, his biggest problem has been an inability to get the ball off the carpet.
Yainer has been one of the most disappointing players on the team so far this year as far as I'm concerned. I really expected way more from him.
It’s clearly mental. He’s having a tough year and it’s getting the best of him for now. He will turn it around but not sure about this season.
How is this even possible? The ball isn't in his glove where the graphic said. France moved his leg back as the pitch was inside. The computerized locator appears to be wrong.
Correct me if I’m wrong but haven’t they already had 2 long stretches without any days off? Maybe it’s taking a toll as it’s his first season as full time catcher? Maybe give him some more days off until the schedule breaks up a bit? Carintini is a very capable catcher and one of the few signings they’ve gotten right recently. Either way, still disappointed in Diaz season, hopefully it’s just a sophomore slump, and adjusting to everyday catching and his pop comes back the 2nd half.
...in all seriousness, young players take a little a bit of time to develop... part of the reason why teams get 6 years of control (of course that and owner greed.) Majority of y'all wanted to chase out of Pena during 2nd year... Bregman and Tucker during their rookie years...
You deemed him a superstar last year. You aren’t getting away with rewriting history. Stamina has sh*t to do with plate discipline and being Ray Charles at the plate.
I’d like to see Abreu DA’d and Diaz, Caratini, and Loperfido platoon at 1b or it could just be Diaz and Caratino.
Dubon can play 1B. Loperfido can still man the OF. Caratini is probably going to catch 3/5. Diaz needs to get right on both sides. Seems like his lack of hitting is infecting his catching. Obviously the latter is the most important when it comes to a catcher, but you can occasionally justify sub-par receiver skills when the bat is rolling.
