Sadly Jimmy Butler never got to be a good shooter though but I suppose he had a couple of years with passable shooting.
Yes but what if Jimmy Butler had Amen's athleticism, size and wingspan? What if he was drafted into a league that made 3pters more of a priority from the start of his career? That would have made him a generational superstar even with mediocre shooting. I believe Amen has that kind of ceiling. Better than Jimmy Butler's prime is a player worth more than the max.
Solid point! I don't necessarily believe Amen will get there as a shooter BUT I think he is going to be a super valuable player nonetheless - it's very clear even as a rookie with limited range that he is a guy who has the ability to impact games on both sides of the court. He is VERY special - you just don't see players with elite athleticism also have elite work ethics AND be super cerebral at processing the game. I'm very excited about him.

The real deals are Shai, Luka and to an extent Edwards and that they are either fairly young or merely 22 years old. Haliburton is half a tier below them and Tatum is inconsistent in the clutch at best. Brunson does not have the best talent around him. Faces of the league. Shai and Luka are both 25 years old. Anthony Edwards is 22 years old but he has KAT a All Star and Veteran, Added Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley in trades. Tons of experience. After James Harden got traded it was Full Rebuild and adding Draft Picks. Kevin Porter experiment at Point Guard was a disaster and Christian Wood selfish play that stunted Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun growth their Rookie Year to Year 3. Year 4 it was trade Porter and add Veterans in Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks. Jalen Green 22 years old Sengun, Amen 21 years old Jabari Smith 20 years old Cam 19 years old
Which I said, either fairly young or 22 like Edwards....just got it in one sub sentence. I mean 2 years between Edwards and Luka are not the world to me.....Luka has that advantage when he turned pro at 15 or 16 with Real Madrid and already winning titles. You do not beat that.
