I don't see any reason to believe the actions of some college kids protesting represent the sentiments of all college student or the majority of college students. The small minority protesting get all the publicity but the one's going about their daily lives, the silent large majority, don't get the same attention. I went to a university which has been the subject of plenty of media coverage on this not too terribly long ago, myself, nor most people I knew, would not have been participating in demonstrations.
Also colleges will use images of these protests in 20 years in ads to show how their university celebrates activism. Everyone hated the Vietnam protestors at the time. Hell many here would have hated the civil rights protests at the time.
Not everyone hated the Vietnam protests/protesters and many current GOPMAGA types would have hated the Civil Rights movement. Why are you confused?
well "everyone" would be a very broad term. I would say it was a popular sentiment to hate the anti-war protests. It was part of what made Reagan become nationally popular as a governor when he went to war with Berkeley.
