Tucker is 25? And about as sure a bet as you can get.

You don't let those guys walk away. Pay the man.

That's over twice what they paid Yordan for 6 years.

I really wasn't a fan of giving Tucker 300 million because I thought once his physical tool deteriorate a little his level of performance will drop really hard, and possibly early.

His growth this season has impressed the hell out of me. He isn't just "hot", that can happen to anybody, his overall approach is elite right now, maybe the best in baseball. Top walk rate in baseball to go along with a near elite K rate. He's also using the opposite field far more than ever, and he's done all this without sacrificing anything in terms of batted ball value.

We'll see if he can do this for 162 without regressing, and repeat it next season, but 300 million would be a starting point in negotiations if he can.

Not my money. If they want to throw a couple hundred million on him that's their choice. I just hope it's not more than 5 years.

If Tuck keeps this up this year, I think you have to approach him about a new deal even though you have him under contract for one more year. I am not a fan of the 8–10-year contracts but then again, a guy like Tuck doesn't come along very often, he is home grown and should be an Astro for life like Altuve. One thing to consider is 8-10 years might not be enough, Trout, Betts got 12-year deals, Tatis got 14 and Harper got 13. Trout makes $35.5 million per year and has the highest AAV..............would you want to go 10 years at $30 Million or is that the starting point. I would have a hard time going past 10 years, they just seem to never work. Trouts deal goes until 2030...........yikes

Enjoy this 2 year Astros Gerrit Cole like run from Tucker cause no way Crane is signing that check. He’s making those Ted Williams comps look based.

Just going from the average player peaks and decline, and the fact that he will be 28 in January.
Sure, he could end up like Altuve as he ages, but it's not usual. I just think we can find rookies or young replacements by 5 years, when he is 33. I trust the scouting system.

A typical player peaks around age 26 and gradually declines afterward in what we know as the age curve. For those fortunate enough to stick around into their late 30s. that decline becomes quite sharp.

All good: I never said that you said that I said that you said Crane shouldn't sign him.
