Yes, because if there's anything the Yao and McGrady era taught us. Is that it is so bloody enjoyable watching extremely injury prone players be unavailable when it matters most. I couldn't think of many worse moves to make, than trading for Zion.
So tempting but so risky. The dream is for Udoka/Splitter to develop Zion into a Draymond-like rim protector who can share time protecting the rim and playable with Sengun. One of them would have to improve their shooting. Both can pass. Such an interesting lineup. Still would have to say no though for what they expect in return. We have amazing assets in hand. Putting our future at the mercy of one player's health in exchange for those assets is not appealing right now. They wouldn't be interested in Dillon Brooks, expiring contracts and highly protected picks. Wouldn't offer more. As a fan who hopes he gets it together, I really hope he ends up with Miami's fitness/medical staff.
the salary is no issue at all. it’s the picks and young talent that you lose for a player that may not be available to play…
I have to pass on Zion ..... The risks are so high with him that it's not worth the assets. Injuries and attitude, just doesn't seem to care about basketball .... can't do it. If he had such an impact on winning, New Orleans wouldn't be trying to get rid of him and that mistake of a contract.
Next time, Nola, if you draft a guy like that, demand he goes down with his weight to 250 pounds from 285....... I think you can demand that. He is an athlete and not a professional burger eater.
i'd take a stab at Zion for the right price. You'd have to give up Amen though because their games basically overlap.. and the fit with Sengun also is extremely poor so he's probably gone in a separate deal.
He’s a rare talent that we haven’t had since Harden where we would go into games already knowing the outcome would be a win. Haven’t had that feeling in years!!! Won’t dismiss others’ fears about injury and desire to play in big games though. Huge risk/reward here.
Deported! You didn't say "Allegedly".... Digressing: Depends on the asking price!! Truly is the epitome of a "High risk, High reward" player.... ....... ....... .......
So, the Pels finally have a good season and now they want to trade away their best player? Red flags Red flags Red flags
This is gonna sound homerish but no Amen for Zion. Yes one is a for sure superstar that just needs to get his head right and the other hasn't proven anything, but Amen could be special and Zion may never come around to actually care about basketball
I'd want it to happen just so that the Rockets can have both the European Zion AND the American Zion.
Amen and Sengun are untouchable in my opinion. I would only take Zion for non-core players like Dillon, this year’s #3 and the Rockets 27. If that isn’t enough then they can go pound sand. Zion would be our SF. People underestimate how good he is when healthy. His health is the gamble, nothing else.
The problem with Zion is the same problem we dodged by not taking Ben Simmons. For all the talent in the world, basketball isn't his top priority.
