Getting to .500 is not going to get us in the playoffs. We likely have to play .600 the rest of the way for that and that is difficult for me to see.
Pitching is absolutely more than stuff. If you can't get hitters off of your stuff by changing their eye level or giving them something else to think about, you're gonna get hit even if you can hump it up at 98. The hitters are just too good. Good on him for trying to find him something to keep the hitters honest. I do find it curious that both Hunter and Spencer are throwing to Caratini now. Was listening in the car for Spencer's last thought, and Sparks called out how Caratini got Arrighetti's attention after a non competitive first pitch by snapping off a hard throw back to the mound to let him know to lock back in. Good "inside baseball" stuff from Sparky.
I don't see it happening right now. Lot of season left, but it's been disappointing. Especially the ****ing Angels out of all teams.
After the Astros mop up the A's.....it will be time to bring out the broom tweets to anger baseball fans.
