I would bet they won’t end up actually bringing him back until at least the next home stand on 5/31. They don’t want him tanking the series against the A’s or Mariners.
I know and I suppose it’s still barely possible, mathematically, to make up 5 games over the final 112 games of the season. More importantly and insightfully, I think we lack the eye of the tiger this year. It was fading last year and now it’s gone. We aren’t rising up to the challenge of our rivals.
Why the F are we experimenting around with a broken 37 year old when we are fighting for our lives? Complacent, face-saving garbage. For all his warts, this is exactly the kind of situation that Luhnow's ruthlessness paid dividends.
We have been swept by really bad teams during the Dusty era due to inexplicable load management decisions.
Dusty's load management was fine. Getting in his players into the lineups for non-load management reasons over better players that he doesn't consider "big boys" was the problem.
...or slotting the 25th/26th man at the top of third of the lineup is inexcusable. Robel Garcia and Nico Goodrum never deserved appreciation threads
