Mavs might make the Finals and Wemby is coming . This is why I think Stone is looking to make a big move this off season. He wants a big fish now. People want a slow build, but if they aren't careful they could be left in 3rd place in the state.
Wemby just led his team to 22 wins and this is a weak draft so they probably aren't going to find a good roster around him for next season either. I don't see why the Mavs and Spurs force the Rockets to rush? Internal development can easily make this team from a 40+ win team like this season to a 50+ win team fighting for hca. 6 guys 22 or under. A lot of headroom to grow. hypothetically, if this team just won like 26 games, ya I would try to dump young players and draft capital for win now stars like Mitchell. But this team won 41 games with a rotation of mostly guys 22 or younger. If you are already winning 40+ games with this many young guys with a lot of headroom to get better, why would you want to rush?
Luka and Wemby are generational talents who both have terrific odds to be in the top 50 to 20 range of all time players Count me in the no shet we will be 3rd as long as they are around camp. We are also very likely to be behind Dallas North, but we may have a chance to edge out Beaumont East if Zion stays fat and injured
Brah Luka has been in the league for a bit and the team is a 40-50 win team. Wemby just finished a 22 win season. It's not like these teams are juggernaughts. This team can easily be better than those teams in the future. The Mavs second best player isn't some young guy so it isn't like the Luka Kyrie duo is here for a long time either.
We aren't beating the Mavs anytime soon just buy adding someone like Mitchell. The Rockets best shot is to keep drafting high upside players with BK picks and hope either one of them or someone on the roster grows into a star.
And that big fish is who? Donovan Mitchell? Lmao if Stone is making decisions based off Dallas making the finals or the lottery Spurs, then he’s an idiot
There is ZERO guarantee any of our kids become a star, every team we are competing with already has a YOUNG star, we do not. Spurs have Wemby OKC has SGA Dallas has Luka Minny has Ant Houston has?????? We have a lot of good NBA up and coming players but ZERO are looking like stars atm. Most players you can see Stardom early, we don't have it, we have some good players that might make an all star game, but we don't have a DUDE. So, if the org wants to compete, we need a DUDE.... DD
This I tend to agree with......we have too many Robins and Red Robins, too many Nightwings and Batgirls......and one Villain. And a few Alfreds.......congested Bat Cave.
Houston might be as much of a problem to others as others are to us. Thanks to the Warriors Houston has never been the favorite in the Harden era, not a fave in the Yao era as well.
If trading for a star like Donovan Mitchell, yes we have a problem because we will be taking 2 steps back to move 3 steps forward. Most moves don't get Houston over that Play-In hump. The best move imo is a Paul George opting out and joining Houston. Clips lose all leverage and Rockets can keep most of our all of its depth in a sign-n-trade move.
It doesn't matter. There's always going to be 3-4 monstrous teams in the West. It's been that way for a couple of decades. We don't have to beat everyone in our division and all the other good teams. We have to beat 3 western teams of varying difficulty and the Eastern champions. No one can expect as much internal development as us. 6 players under 22 fully and successfully in the rotation with an elite development staff. More picks and cap space on the way - we haven't sold our future. Already a .500 team before any of our core is close to their mid 20's. If you do nothing but work on our guys for 2 years we'll be sniffing 60 wins. Other teams don't jump in wins that much because hardly any team in NBA history was sitting on 6 players under 22 in a rotation that can win half its games. We were a top 10 defense which is ridiculous, no one would have bet money on that. We're going to be statistical outliers in that regard. All we need to do is patiently wait for a star we can acquire without overpaying. Don't take any risks. Don't acquire someone you have to change or who has to have their best season ever to be worth it. Just grow and wait for an opportunity. If Wemby can beat multiple all stars coached by defensive genius Udoka on his own, I'll shake his hand. Kyrie won't be relevant in 2 years. I'm not worried at all. Don't let the P.R. fool you. The media will be on our bandwagon and exactly as I predicted a year ago, our path will be very similar to OKC's with a one year delay. I'd be more worried about them than DAL/SAS/BOS. We've got a dynasty budding here that a heliocentric team is not going to beat.
We don’t have the ability to sign him. You have to be able to threaten to sign the player outright to gain the leverage to force the other team to agree to a SnT. And what would this SnT look like that makes it so much more appealing than some of the proposed Mtchell trades?
