He doesn’t take many shots outside of the paint area. Doesn’t have a jumpshot. Lopez had a 15 ft jump shot at Stanford. Don’t understand these comparisons.

The reason I want Clingan is I want a big who can anchor the defense in the paint for the second unit, so when Sengun goes to the bench, he comes out there with Thompson, Eason, Whitmore and whoever else and completely change the temp of the game. Eventually, if he proves to work alongside Sengun, slide him into the starting lineup.

How can you play 2 bigs with our lineup? Both Clingan and Sengun can’t shoot. This would create a logjam in the paint. Sengun isn’t a 4 and can’t cover speedier 4s on the perimeter or dribble drive. This likely wouldn’t work even if either player develops a 3 pt shot. Again having a big on the bench wouldn’t completely solve the Rockets issues in terms of paint defense and stretching opponents defenses to create driving and cutting lanes for Green and Cam etc. Sengun needs to diversify his game.

Again.... You can say he needs to improve his shot or reduce the volume of his three point attempts. Those are rational reasonable claims.

The point of contention is that you want to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I vote best player available at #3 and then draft the most athletic Center available based on the Combine and our individual workouts with our 2nd round pick

That’s what a lot of people don’t understand. Just being large in size affects players driving to the paint. He also has a long wingspan. Guards and SF’s drive on Sengun because he simply isn’t that big or long.

I think it will depend on the matchups but its becoming more evident that we need more bigs as we get deeper into the Playoffs.

In the Playoffs, if Sengun is lacking, Ime may have to start a lineup of Clingan and Jabari and let Sengun come off the bench. It'll just depend on matchups

But that’s the issue. No team sits their main players on the bench especially in the playoffs. Again the question is moving forward is Sengun that guy? I don’t have an answer to this although I have my doubts that he is. He is unique in his short roll ability, passing, and handling for a big but he is a smaller center without a wing span or stretch ability. While other centers are limited or have defensive deficiencies they are longer, bigger, or taller and have stretch ability. Porzingis is 7”2 plus he’s a stretch center. Turner doesn’t have a post game or can handle the ball but he is a stretch 5 and can defend the paint. Jokic is 30 or so pounds heavier than Sengun and has a 3 inch wingspan over him. Gobert can’t shoot but is a defensive force in the paint and lob threat.

Sengun would help this team immensely if he develops a 3 pt shot or mid range 15-20 ft jumper. Paint defense is still in question but at least he would open up the offense for baseline cuts, slip screens, and driving lanes for the guards and SF’s. Maybe after another year or 2 both him and Green don’t materialize into stars and we have to find replacements and start over. Very interesting situation we have with Sengun.

“Play taller guys” - for years, has been the mantra of CF’s biggest dummies.

the guy who shot below 60% from the free throw line and made 2 threes in college…yeah, that’s never gonna work next to Sengun

u want the Rockets to waste the 3rd pick on someone to anchor the bench unit defense for 15 minutes

if Stone throws away the 3rd pick drafting Sengun’s backup, just fire his ass on the spot…

he’s already attempted several questionable or downright laughable moves and was luckily saved by the other GM or player like Oladipo declining his offer

Look at the box score +/- for tonight's Mavericks Timberwolves game. Lively and Gobert #1 and #2. Defense matters. Clingan would transform our defense.
