According to a Chinese news report, Yao was told that Sura was found to have waist injury. Sura will have to sit out for 3 to 4 months, the article reported. Anyone can confirm this?

Yao also mentioned that Sura would be the starting PG without the injury, as far as he knew. Don't know how much truth here but the reporter covered a lot of Yao news in the past.

IF Sura is injured, that leaves Lue and Ward...scary.

If these guys can at least play defense and hit an open jumper, then we'll be all right. It's the Yao and Mcgrady show here, and everyone else just needs to get down and know their role. I just hope Sura will be all right. I'd hate, hate, hate to see him get injured and have to crawl back into the rotation like Pike. That would be some seriously wicked karma.

Edit: Oh and BTW "user" do you mean that Sura has a "wrist injury" which is the connector of the arm to the hand. The waist is the area at your midsection around your stomach.

Hope it's not true. One would think we'd hear about it here, though.

Maybe it can be called a back injury. But back injury is kinda high on the back? It's really a lower back injury from the article.

Dang, those lower back injuries can be killers. But let's wait until this story get confirmed by Sura or the Rockets before we get too worried about it.

The article reported that "Yao got a surprising news from the rockets, the new point guard sura, who just transferred from hawks to the rockets, was checked to have a serious waist injury which will sure make him sitting out 3 to 4 months of the regular season."

From the wording of the article, it seems sura was not recently injuried. Then why cant the physical examination before the transfer find out an injury that would sideline the player 3-4 months of the regular season. If u add up the off-season, sura pass the physical test with the injury that would sideline him nearly 6 months. Does it make any sense?

no it doesnt....thats why we are gonna have to reserve judgement(or panic) for until we get a more reliable source...like a report from the Rockets team doctors via the Chronicle..

the reason why isnt that I explicitly distrust the Chinese media....it is just that if there was a preconsisting condition, surely the Rockets doctors(who are considered some of the best in the league) wouldnt have missed that....

now...if he injured it since the trade...then it becomes a possibility.

JVG mentioned this in the 610 interview he did last week. However, he did talk about the seriousness of the injury. It was not elaborated on at all.

Sura fits as much on the floor with TMac and Yao as GP did with Kobe and Shaq on the floor. The guy is Steve-lite with an emphasis on lite. I'd be more concerned if Ward (who is the best shooter the Rockets have at the point guard position) got injured. Lue is the backup for the 1. TMac, JJ, and Boki will man the 2 and the 3. If Boki can shoot the 3 well, he gets more minutes.

Come on guys, look at the source. I remember the same source saying some BS about a month ago (I forgot exacly what it was, but I know it never happend). If something like that happend, I think some newspaper in the U.S. would know. Don't sweat until its a reliable source.

It would be a big blow if Sura is injured. Gaines isn't ready to take his place.Ward and Lue won't be enough at the PG. Sura also is very important as a reserve 2 to help T-Mac out. I hope that this news isn't true.

No way this is for real, we would hear it from rockets.com or espn long before we hear it from a chinese news source.

Not true. I remember they reported Kwame Brown's injury, for whatever reason, way before ESPN or anyone else.
