FCL stats are meaningless and the overall team has been awful, but it struck me that pitchers Anthony Aparacio, Franklin Gil, Anthony Cruz, and Engel Daniel Peralta have combined for 66 strikeouts and only 10 walks in 40.2 ip.
Tonight's home runs Pedro Leon (9) Shay Whitcomb (9) Quincy Hamilton (6) Pascanel Ferreras (5; 2 with CC) Ryan Wrobleski (1) Luis Baez (6)
Nehomar Ochoa went 4-4 for Fayetteville tonight. Julio Marte has had a rather rough start to his season but he turned in 5.1 solid innings, allowing a run on a solo homer and one other hit (a single). He walked three and struck out six. John Garcia went 4-5 with a couple of doubles and scored twice for Asheville. Pascanel Ferreras' and Ryan Wrobleski's home runs came in a 10-run 6th inning for Corpus. Misael Tamarez allowed four hits and struck out four over five shutout innings for Sugar Land.

That's a really high prospect ranking for Melton. I personally don't see him as a top 100 guy, but what do I know?
I was told we had to keep him because he definitely wasn’t moving off CF. That’s not great if he’s a corner guy.
His statistical performance thus far would not align with that high of a ranking. I think there’s a big gap with him between evaluators who like tools and those that focus more on production. I am excited about Meltons drop in strikeout rate this season and if he puts if all together he has potential to be a star player.
I do not put much stock into any of these prospect rankings. Was Pena top 100 Was Lopo top 100 Was Jake M. top 100 Was Alvarez top 100 Seems like the Astros prospects always arrive without making the lists but do well for the most part. To be honest Melton being ranked that high seems out of the ordinary. I do not see his name all that much on the minor league forum. i honestly trust those on the board that report happenings daily as opposed to a dude in a basement reading other reports and piggybacking.
Agreed. For position players for me through this season, it's probably 1. Baez 2. Whitcomb 3. Dezenzo 4. Leon 5. Jaworsky 6-8. Matthews/Melton/Cole.
Baez is a high ceiling hitter but he is limited to corner OF which puts a LOT of pressure on his bat. Guys like Yordan are unicorns that pan out under those conditions. Guys like Melton and Leon have a lot more risk tolerance because they have defensive value. Baez is still really young so it’s way too early to know how good he’ll be, but he’s posting a single digit walk rate and fairly mediocre power numbers considering his profile.
