Green OR Bari, fine. I don't think I'd trade both. FVV + Green + draft compensation is a solid package IF Mitchell would agree to sign an extension with us.

If I was to rank the young core by potential it would be:

    1. Green
    2. Amen
    3. Sengun
    4. Cam
    5. Bari
    6. Eason

If I was to rank the young players by their floor(how good they will be with their worst case scenario):

    1. Sengun
    2. Green
    3. Amen
    4. Bari
    5. Eason
    6. Cam

I really hope they don't mortgage a big chunk of our young core for Mitchell. He's a second tier star player. He is ball dominant and you have to build your offense around him to maximize him. But he is nowhere near as good as guys like Harden and Doncic. If he is your franchise player, you are a first round exit kind of team in the west.

The franchise player is Sengen, you could say the Rockets would have two bonafide stars if they added Spida (age 27).

I suspected the Rockets would do something big and fans need to come to terms with this reality. Much like last year adding FVV and Brooks... it's kind of been a progression and it makes sense.

If they can work a deal to keep Sengen, Amen, Jabari, Whitmore, Eason while adding Mitchell... Rockets could be one of the top 4 teams in the West. I believe the time is now to cash in on that star, just a matter of how much it'll cost. Who else is a top 15-25 star player that's available?

I would say Green has a good chance of being Mitchell or better while also matching the timeline of the current core so why do it?

Mitchel is a smaller player at age 27. He isn't a PG savant that can extended shelf life. That means you are closing the window on this team to 3 years or so because there is a good chance by 30, Mitchell will decline. And Sengun would be 25, an age where you could even say a player isn't even o their prime yet. So basically Mitchell will be on the decline by the time the young players reach their prime age.

It's bad logic. It's a trade for the sake of trading.

It’s the trade because you don’t think that Green will become even just Donovan eventually …from three years of experience from the front office staff and coaching

I’m not saying he won’t, but if they make the trade they’re making the trade because they think that

Closing the window in 3 years? Sengen 25? What are we doing here?

You're looking 3 years out as a fan and just trying to predict an outcome you or I have no idea about, unless you're a psychic. Sengen, in all likelihood, will get maxed and that's not really a debate. Fans love him and he's widely regarded as a top 30-35 player.

Also, to fans anger, Stone did the right thing by adding FVV and Brooks. Best advice is to look at the situation from a FO perspective and get rid of this perception that the Rockets are making a "trade for the sake of making a trade."

That's not whats happening. The trade happens because they don't believe Jalen Green can get them there and they are cashing in their chips.

Why bring up FVV and Brooks?

What? Who was against that outside the fact people were upset about the overpay not understanding the new cba rules(Rockets had to exceed the minimum cap)? Everyone was begging for adults on the room(vets). It was the contract sizes that people were upset about and most of that anger was based in not understanding the new cba rules.

If Brooks or FVV was acquired by giving up one of our young pieces it would have been a bad trade.

Mitchell is 27. He is a small guard who's best trait is his agility and athleticism. That means he will probably not be the type of guy who is a high level player in his thirties. The Rockets young core will reach their prime age when Mitchell is in his thirties.

If this was 27 year old Gainnis, 27 year old Curry etc, franchise game changers, sure you dump the rebuild to acquire a talent like that.

But trading a 22 year old player who has a higher ceiling than a 27 year old player(28 well before the start of next season btw) when the roster is built for the future and not "win now" mode is absurd.

These are the type of moves that make franchises perennial mid teams.

Only way I’d be ok with being in Spida is with a guaranteed extension agreement.

He can walk for a super max next summer and I’d rather not trade assets for him

I like Donovan and suggested him in the past, but don't feel he makes a lot of sense anymore. The fact that he has always been ball dominant just scares me away based on what Udoka is building. He also has injury issues every year which is an issue.

    Agreed.

I want Spida for his prime years and if he doesn't want a long term deal... hard pass. I could see him being like, "I'll go to Houston, but I don't want to sign a long term deal just yet." He ain't holding this Rockets org hostage like that.

I like Mitchell a lot but he’s not worth it for 2 years and he’s banged up a lot.

I'd assume any trade would be predicated on him agreeing to sign an extension.

The other thing I’m meaning by the 2 years comment is that he will be 30 and small guards in his mold tend to fall off after 30.

Unless they are high IQ floor general savants like CP3 or all time great shooters like Curry which Mitchell is neither.

After 3 years of hating on Green, I would rather keep Green than do this trade. I didn't watch 3 years of tanking for picks just to watch FVV, Mitchell, and Dillon Brooks in the starting line up

Let the boys grow. WTF is Mitchell really going to do for this team anyway

I would trade Green/ Eason and 3 future 1sts for Mitchell. But I want to keep 1-3'this yr.

Mitchell and Clingan are what this team is missing. A bonafide bucket getter to stop droughts and a great rim protector.
