Remember about two weeks ago there were reports saying that two Astros veterans weren't happy with Espada? After his F ups handling the pitching staff (Arrighetti, Brown and now Framber) I would think there's got to be a lot more players who have issues with him and thinking he's in over his head and to pull the plug and get him the F out of there and bring in someone more qualified.
I got flamed in the off season thread for suggesting that they trade framber for prospects and sign Montgomery. Framber is talented as **** but he just can’t be trusted. ****er unravels way too easily
Yeah, agreed. Espada has looked unprepared for this role since day one. I'm really surprised because I expected a lot more.
Framber going off the rails shows he does not respect his manager and Catcher.............the fact that Espada didn't go out and yank him shows he is not up to the task. I love Framber but this was unacceptable
I said this last off-season. I was hoping Framber's issues had to do with being tired. Nope, it's all in his head and Strom isn't here to help him keep his head screwed on straight.
Sometimes I hate baseball. This feels like 2020 baseball or 2000s when the Astros had a lot going for them, but also had trouble winning at times.
And why were Yanier's "pitcher stats" such a hot topic last year? Absolutely nobody from the players, to management, to the press, to Rvo384 were making a case that Mady deserved more playing time due to his offensive skills over Yanier. It was all about how Maldy "handled the pitching staff" and how he played the better defense as the Machete. So, people dug into those stats and every metric showed that Yanier was better on defense for throwing out runners and fewer passed balls. But, but, Maldy handles the pitching staff better, so something that many of us never knew existed started being talked about, catchers ERA. Maldy had no justifiable edge there either. Framber had meltdowns with Maldy on the mound and he's having them with Yanier on the mound. If you want to say both Maldy and Yanier have handled the pitching staff poorly in 2023 and 2024, then okay. I'll take the better offensive and defensive catcher.
Things might work out if we were in a rebuild. But Espada has cost us what, 2-3 games already? More than that?
We might not be better with Monty (4.98 era), but at least there would be trust and he wouldn't throw games away.
