Week 2 for the Cowboys, and hopefully they can make us forget week 1. While I don't mind being high up in the offensive rankings, I don't like being in the back of the pack in defense. I doubt Vinny would throw 50 times every game and throw well, so we'll have to see some improvements from the D, even though they were playing the #1 O from last year. Also, with injuries to Gurode, Walter, and Anderson, the offense will take a bit of a hit. JJ should play this game, so he may be able to replicate some things that Anderson could have done while adding some other things, but he'll have to do it against a weaker line it seems. Again, we need you D. This is a pretty interesting game though from a history standpoint. Campo, Davis, Ekuban and I think someone else previously associated with the Cowboys will be going against them today. The last time these two played was in 1994 IIRC, and the Browns won with Vinny as the QB. BTW, life sucks for me; I can't watch this game on my TV. Stupid CBS. I'll have to keep up with what's up on the internet, probably that NFL gamecast stuff. If any of you guys could explain some of the bigger plays, I'd appreciate it, although you don't have to explain each and every play and fill this thread up. I would just like to get an idea of some of the bigger plays of the game if possible.
Great start! A flea flicker play where Vinny handed off to Eddie and he flicked it back to Vinny who then passed 36 yards to Keyshawn to the 1 yard line which was then followed by a short pass play for TD to third string TE Robinson to cap a long drive with several pass completion attempts and good running by Eddie along the way.
Huh? He looked pretty sharp to me. The first two throws were to TE Witten and were right on the money. The third pass was on 3rd and 1 was a little underthrown but easily caught by receiver Glenn for first down. The last play was to Robinson and it was a strike. He looks pretty sharp to me. I'm not sure what your watching.
Well, Julius Jones is looking terrible. He's had 3 carries for about 3 or 4 yards total and he just fumbled his last carry. Terrible.
What the heck is Keyshawn doing, could of given them a 1st and goal instead makes em settle for a field goal ahhh!!!
Well, this reminds me a lot of the first game. A good start followed by us shooting ourselves in the feet with penalties and mistakes. Vinny is once again passing well. Our offense is moving the ball but making penalties to cost us. The defense started out strong but has weakened on both the rush and pass by penalties and mistakes. We are lucky we are leading this ballgame currently but we better be ready to play better the 2nd half or this game is going to be lost.
I got out a radio we had and can listen to that, although not very well. YEA! Go crappy radio! Sounds like what Surfguy said. Reminds me a lot of last week. The thing that really ticks me off is when it is a big down, say 3rd and 10 for either team, and Dallas will commit a penalty resulting in a 1st down for Cleveland or a 4th down for Dallas. I don't like penalties period, but I certainly don't like them at the wrong time, especially stupid ones, like Keyshawn's penalty. (it sounded stupid anyways). Good thing we aren't playing Minnesota again or else we'd be down big again. Of course, I don't think Cleveland will lie down so Dallas needs to quit with the dumb mistakes. BTW, it sounded like Vinny missed Witten a few times. Were they really that bad? If I heard it correctly, Parcells called a TO just to tell him about it. Thanks for the updates.
Vinny missed Witten once that I recall where, instead of passing to Witten, he passed to another receiver over the middle in coverage for a contested incompletion. The Cleveland defense had busted the coverage on that play and Witten would have been a sure touchdown. Parcells chewed out Vinny for that one. I think we settled for a FG after that. Just in: Dat Nguyen with an interception of Garcia!!!!!
Yea...that ball was underthrown as he lofted it because Julius Jones was so wide open. I have to fault Julius on that one, though, as he should have adapted and come up with it. Instead, he dropped a fingertip catch. His motion was carrying him the other way but I still think he should have had that. Instead, he drops it and the sure touchdown that would have resulted.
To keep the thread up-to-date: 1.) Dat Nguyen interception in Brown territory 2.) Antonio Bryant with great catch to make it 1st and goal 3.) 2 yard TD run by EG 17-9 Cowboys
That's trademark Vinny - he makes some great throws(the bomb to Bryant) - then guts you like a fish by throwing a horrible, game-changing pick.
Wow! Same exact type of pass play. He needs to stay away from those cause those are terrible passes he is throwing there. Yikes!
Wow....listening to radio sucks. What's Vinny doing? Is he trying to get more TO's than the Redskins all by himself?
