Walter Kessler averaged 23 minutes per games for the Jazz last season. Kessler is a pretty good pro compare for Clingan.
To go top 5, teams must feel like he's Mark Price. More likely than not though, RS is an undersized combo guard. A solid rotational piece, but not worthy of such a high pick.
Or how about Eric Gordon? Reed is a little short, so he might attempt the majority of his 3 point shots well behind the 3 point line. Reed might handle the ball well enough to be workable PG in stretches.
Good. I think there are more teams looking at C this year than there has been in some time, the Minnesota success will only push it further, and the weak draft class makes it easier to take a risk on a traditional center. It's smart for the Rockets to express interest and see how much they can drive the price of #3 up. If there's nothing that materializes, you just draft the top guy on your board, whether that is Clingan or someone else.
Man, they were kinda brutal about him with a "good" game. There was a lot of nitpicking there (every prospect will look bad with that nitpicking), but I think I have cooled a bit with my thoughts on him. Partially because I haven't had a chance to really do a deep dive and evaluate stuff like his skill level, feel, and BBIQ. Based on that, I'm thinking it is probably fine for his position, but not something that pops. The shot mechanics stuff with his feet does concern me, especially since it's been that way for a while it seems (though Sam said it has gotten better...but I wonder if he's being nice?). Seems he has a lot of fundamental skill work he still needs to do, though I'm not sure he'll have a lot of time to do so before his rookie season. Still like his motor and on ball defense though. Probably still near the top of my board, but definitely more concerns than I originally had. I can see why Hollinger wasn't super high on him (and I think Sam isn't either).
I feel TJ McConnell is similar in style, minus the shooting. McConnell's short, but a good positional defender with high steal and rebound rates for his size. He's not a ball-dominant playmaker that's going to run the offense every time he's on the floor, he's somewhat of a connective passer himself. TJ's also a very good finisher, shooting 72% at the rim this season and 51.6% from the field overall for his career. He simply knows how to play and his +/- numbers and win shares reflect that. He's probably the best backup PG in the league. Add range to McConnell's energy and unselfishness and you probably get into FVV territory, if not higher. FVV is a ball dominant floor general now, but he wasn't always. But what he's always been is a player that relies more on his IQ than his physical gifts, which is probably what Sheppard will need to do to thrive.
Reed Sheppard please! Our biggest weakness is shooting and he is one of the better shooters to come out of the NCAA in a long time.
what’s your impression of tidjane salaun? from the highlights to me he looks even longer and with a better J compared to risacher, but also a lesser defender
I've noticed watching his highlights that most of his 3s are well behind the line -- gives him more space and his form plus hops launch his shots with (what seems like) little effort. Jalen has the hops but if he gets out of rhythm he has to heave it a bit on those long shots. Probably has been posted but some good examples.
Tidjane Salaun , the French Giannis , maybe a dark horse for the #3 pick. You might have 3 Frenchies to start the draft. He’s a big, athletic and can shoot the rock. BPA?
rumor is San Antonio is looking at him at #8. The thing that impresses me the most with him is his motor. There’s no off switch.
he reminds me a bit of horry… very long yet wiry strong, perfect shooting form with high arc, explosive athlete, and extremely confident
Those clips the guy is showing dont really do him justice. Hes saying what he can do but not really showing it. I actually like his game more that risacher
I remember the Giannis draft pretty well; very poor draft like this one. I remember seeing vids of Giannis and seeing the athleticism, but thinking he was so raw, and so far away from being an nba player. Not saying this guy is Giannis , it’s not even close. But getting those kind of vibes; raw, long, versatile, young, Uber talented. And this guy has a big motor.
I like Salaun, but he does look like a player that will take some time to develop. I'm not sure if the Rockets want that right now, but he has the upside, for sure. I could definitely see the Spurs taking him at #8.
