The FVV signing was an OK move, not fantastic, but not terrible. Watching the Mavs be carried at times by Kyrie makes you wonder if he would have signed in Houston, looks like the same amount of money, an extra guaranteed year, but you'd have a superstar in his prime instead of a role player PG, but most importantly you could have prevented the Mavs from having this much success. Mavs have a legitimate shot at making the finals with this squad. Ideally if you are spending $40M a year you get someone who is a leader on the floor, but also has that other gear to be considered a super star.
I see this argument that JG will or can be our next PG - are folks saying that in a nonchalant way? Because I'm not seeing that at all for him, like not even close - the vision, the passing, the shooting, nothing is there. I'm not even sure if it's something he's interested in. That's the dilemma with him - his fastest path to being a valuable contributor might just be focusing on shooting, but pure scorers are no longer valued in NBA, or he has a ton of things he needs to improve on to be a combo guard of sorts. I think it's critical we come up with post-FVV plans for the PG position - I'm very bullish on Amen, but he will need to improve *a lot* on shooting - like needs to shoot 2x better or something. I think that makes a backup plan necessary. Hence the reason I find it super weird to try and draft.a 3rd string center to the bench with this draft. I think we either use it to get a shooter or get a backup PG (Reed coincidentally have potential for both) - using the word 'use' in a broad sense - trade down or trade the pick if needed to get that. That's why I love us getting this pick, it opens up so many options for us.
Unless he's traded for a much better PG, I find it unlikely they even think of this before the mid season trade deadline. He ranks about average for starting PG's (15th) so the ones who are much better are also the few no one wants to trade. We need to first understand what Sengun, Amen and Green are capable of next season. How much usage can they take on while steering us to the playoffs? Without that info, you can't even consider acquiring a slight upgrade. You cant decide whether you should even have a lot of money tied into the PG spot.
Bobby is unhinged about Jalen. Most of his other takes are ok. No GM had Scottie Barnes or Wagner at two. Brooks helped us get competitive this year. Bobby refuses to give stone any credit even though he fleeced presti for Sengun, drafted Tari, Cam in the middle of the draft and put us into position to contend after a 3 Year re-build. If Jalen turns it around, he’ll turn his attention to Jabari as the third pick not being a superstar at age 21
I'd ask, which is more likely.... That I'm "unhinged when it comes to Jalen" meaning that he's actually an amazing budding superstar and all the numbers lie ONLY when talking about Jalen and that the team is apparently unhinged as well for trying to trade Jalen at the deadline and for not even considering extending him next season Or That you just drank a bit too much of the Jalen kool-aid.
neither. Jalen should not be traded unless you are getting an excellent haul. He gets half a year to prove his worth,in my opinion, and you don’t really know what they were planning at the deadline. The media and nba teams throw out Sh*t all the time. It was probably the nets trying to drum up demand for bridges, but who knows. We absolutely need what Jalen can become as someone who can create his own shot and make them. If he can’t, we need to find a shooting guard that can without being a black hole or stat chaser.
Kyrie wanted another Lebron, he cannot function without another Alpha, I really doubt he would consider Houston without Harden..... The others are too young for him to consider. Kyrie naming his stepmom his agent was another surprise move by the Flatearther.
You are completely biased on Green. That's certainly not a secret. I actually agree he's been terrible but you support a bum like Evan Mobley
So the most likely scenario is that the trade talk was lies, the numbers lie ONLY when talking about Jalen, and I'm just unhinged. Fair enough, we'll see.
A "bum" who is about to get a max extension.... just like the rest of the top 4 drafted players in 2021 except for the guy taken #2.
Well that the Cavs. They're notoriously terrible. If the 're stupid enough to give him a max contract live in in mediricty which is the definition of of Evan Mobley
