This game was still winnable. Espada should have pulled JV when he was clearly struggling. He waited until it was too late. Hopefully they can get some late bats going, but if it’s a loss, it’s on him.

 

I swear he’s swinging at the first pitch 75% of the time lol

 

Mariners just took the lead

 

1. You trust JV to get out of his own mess similar to his last start in Detroit because he's a veteran
2. If you pull him there you're asking a lot of a taxed and shortened bullpen
3. The fault of whether this game is won or lost is clearly upon the hitters not doing the job (top of the lineup has given nothing today)

 

Very unorthodox to sub out a pitcher mid-at bat. He was hanging in there until pitch 13.
