Fund drive for water stations at border

I really don't know what to make out of this idea. These people are breaking our laws by crossing our border illegally and we are trying to make it easier for them to do so. On the other hand, those water stations can prevent deaths from dehydration and it's just wrong not to support an idea which can save lives. Tough call.

Instead of water stations, how about some of these:

With the threat of international terrorism, we simply cannot allow people to wander across our border unchecked. We certainly shouldn't be trying to make it easier.

I've got no problem with free death at border. We can place uzi's all along the border. One in five makes it.

At least we'd get the ballsy mexicans.

We need a big fence ala the one keeping the "Palestinians" out of Israel on our border with Mexico. The unchecked migration of illegals is the greatest threat we face besides terror in the 21st century. The sad thing about it is that neither party will handle this issue at all because they fear pissing off the Latino vote.

I think it's horrible. This is coming from some one who immigrated here. I'm all for legal immigration, infact I say let more legal foreigners in, the U.S. population is decreasing if not for immigration. The ones in legally will typically work hard and might be able to get legal jobs and pay taxes etc.

However, illegal immigrants need to stop. While some need to be "allowed" in due to the benefits they provide to the south west economy and way of life(grass cutters, home builders, etc), an over abunde would lead to crazy acts such as suing the state for back pay for not paying min. wage (though I wonder how much tax have they paid).

Excellent post. If they don't respect our laws getting into our country, what makes people think they will respect them living here?

I can understand why, if the government was funding this, it would sound like a mixed message. I have no problem with private citizens providing the water if that is what they choose to do.

I don't believe most of these people come here intending to disrespect our laws; most of them just want to be able to make more money to send back to their families. It's interesting how our economy functions under the current system, due to various illegal activities (illegal immigration, hiring of "undocumented workers", low pay for those workers, etc.)... it seems to benefit a lot of people, but of course it's still not really supposed to be going on.

For the safety of the border-crossers, I worry more about those who entrust their lives to smugglers. Remember the ones who were left in that truck in Victoria a couple of summers ago. :(

I agree with you that they dont respect the laws regarding immigration, but to say that they dont follow civil/legal laws in America is a stretch. Last time I checked there is another specific ethnic group( who are legally here), which causes most of our criminal problems in America, and hint: its not the Hispanics or Arabs.
