That is different, back to the Mourning era. Now all they do is use 6'8 Adebayo and 6'10 Jovic. Undersized bigs. Clingan and Edey going to bring back the Center era.
For all those doubting Sheppard's strengths in defense, I've seen much more positives than I did Jalen. Remember the scouting reports? Take a look at what they said..... Two big questions surround Green. The first comes on defense. He was a pretty terrible defender in the G League. He shot passing lanes for steals and was pretty engaged for the most part on the ball, but his overall technique leaves a lot to be desired. He was also a consistent gambler, which is part of why his steal rate was so high. When he got home, it looked great. When he didn’t, it often resulted in buckets for the opposing team. His footwork and slide technique are bad right now, and he doesn’t get the most out of his quick-twitch athleticism because of it. He’s a consistent fly-by guy on closeouts and needs to work on taking shorter, choppier steps as opposed to flying out of control toward the shooter. Getting through screens both on and off the ball is a significant problem right now, too. He has no idea how to navigate them yet. Often ends up running into them. Doesn’t do a good job of trailing and needs to get skinnier at the mesh point to avoid the contact of the screen better. He wasn’t particularly good in recovery despite his athleticism, either, because while he would give effort through the initial action, he often didn’t really work to fight to get back into the play. He has so much work to do on this end of the floor in terms of awareness and instinctual development that it’s really hard to project him as anything but a negative long-term. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/27...t-what-to-expect-from-the-rockets-first-pick/
If you haven't changed your mind on this pick 17 times already... Stephon Castle is my current pick lol reminds me of SGA minus the foul-baiting and plus some defense. Just really smooth with the ball, terrific body control and good in the paint. Defensively he's a "Udoka guy" too, very competitive, stays in position and plays hard. FVV - Jalen - Brooks - Smith - Sengun Castle - Cam - Amen - Eason - Adams I think I'm out on Reed. We had a 6' shooter backup already and I don't want to see another minute of Holiday.
Man I watched a Rischacherre game from Mid March on YouTube. It was condensed but only in the sense that they eliminated dead time. my guy looked like ass. definitely off ball most of the time. Doesn’t get passed to a lot. Catch and shoot and mid March his shot was off. I did like and appreciate his defensive effort and hustle. But even then it’s not like he was gobbling up rebounds or anything. based on just the one game I wound t draft him in the lottery much less the top 3 lol. But it’s just one game during a bad stretch for him and he’s super young. You COULD still tell he was tall, mobile, fluid and the form looked good.
100%. KPJ is not only an empty stats player but as you said an overall team cancer. He's absolutely worthless
So you think 2 players who project as roleplayers are going to change the NBA? Nevermind that neither of them would be top 10 picks (or maybe even lottery picks at all) if this draft was anything like the previous 3 years, these are the guys you think are making a huge impact? Makes a LOT of sense why you have the wacko opinions you have tbh.
You posted this thinking it made you super credible. All it really did is signpost that you have piss-poor evaluation skills. Jalen Green was a consensus top pick and ranked right at the top of his recruiting class his entire basketball life. Reed Sheppard would've been lucky to get picked in the lottery in Jalen's draft. Reed might not even project to be as good as Jalen is NOW, you realise that right? lmao you guys are so funny.
Jalen Green has been a bust....so while the hype got him drafted #2 overall, he hasn't been a top 10 player in his own draft class. We're 3 years in and there's still nothing Jalen does well. He's a bottom shooter in the entire league and still a defensive liability.
I was finally able to look at some footage of all the top prospects. How do you feel about Matas Buzelis? I kind of like him more than Risacher. One of the things that concerns me about Risacher is if he thrives off the energy in those arenas then he may struggle at the Toyota Center lol.. I can see the Rockets liking him if they prefer a more "run and gun" type offense, like how Phoenix played during the Dantoni/Steve Nash days. Speaking of Nash, I like Reed Sheppard too. I think he'll be one of those players who'll be drafted later, but should have gone sooner. The Rockets definitely need more shooters. But they also definitely need to either land a star or find out who they're going to choose to be their franchise player so everyone will know their roles. I believe what was going on with Jalen was more mental than him just "not being a good shooter." It's just time to make a trade, and that's why the Rockets should either draft the best player available or trade the pick. They shouldn't draft based off the fit because a rotational player or two may be shipped out. Then all of a sudden what fit before doesn't fit anymore lol. What if Jeff Green gets traded? Tari gets hurt again? Rocks would need a 6'10 guy who can shoot.
Dont start worrying unless Donovan comes out and decides not to return to Cleveland and lists the Rockets as one of the 2 or 3 teams he prefers a trade to. I said he was faking his injury because he was pissed off and a day later a bleacher report article came out about him supposedly being "frustrated." So maybe him wanting to come to Houston is true. But he'd need to do the Rockets a solid by demanding a trade to HOU. If he faked his injury because he was mad and sabotaged his teams opportunity to advance in the playoffs, then I don't want him being a Rocket either. Kawhi wanted out of Toronto, but he didn't quit on them in the playoffs.
I want the player with the highest trade value in a package that can help the Rockets, for a long time.
