I played this club in Corpus Christi(Jokers Wild) and was written a felony hot check by it's owner Tony Martinez. I have caught him in lies concerning the check and given him the benefit of the doubt by not filing with the DA's office. As you guys know I had this HUGE showcase for the HBO Comedy Festival, and although this dude has owed me money for over 2 months, I invited him and his improv troupe to come in and perform for the chance to advance their collective careers. As soon as Tony made it in he promised me 200 of my money before the night was over, I gathered in his conversations that he had rode the bus down here from Corpus so I told him to give me 100 and keep the other in case of emergency. Tony and his troupe performed, then left the club when I was on stage doing another show. I really feel like a fool.
I have learned in business that when you do favors or try to be nice to people they take advantage...even friends should be dealt differently when doing business. Either you have to know that business is business and be a hard ass or just not do business with friends.
I can't tell you how many times my band had been ripped off in Corpus Christi. There must be something in the water.

File with the DA's office man, how many other comics - maybe guys who haven't been as succesful as you - has this guy ripped off. Teach him a lesson.
It's lame that you got ripped off, but if you don't at least file a complaint, this douche can keep pulling his crap with other comics, too. Promoters and performers necessarily have a rather adversarial relationship; if you don't demand all that you've earned from them, they aren't going to respect you.

Fool me once: shame on you. Fool me twice: shame on me. Been there, done that. I'm a very gullible dude, and I totally understand and respect your willingness to take him for his word. That said, this guy is a schmuck. Take your losses, and blow him off for good, if you can. Either way, never do financial aspects with him again.
That Suck's I live in Corpus and have been to joker's Wild a bunch over the last couple of year's, but I will not go back if that kind of crap is going on there. Corpus could be a nice town , but the people here seem to have one thing on there mine "How can I screw over the guy next to me". Sorry about your money that you are owed.
