He can move his feet better on the perimeter and his block rate is nearly double that of Edey's. UConn's defense was elite. Credit goes to Castle too, but their defense was great last year too before he was there.

Gasol and Lopez didn’t become respectable 3pt shooters until their 9th! year. Are you willing to wait 9 years? ;)

    2/9 from three in 2 years (74 games/33 starts)
    FT: 56%

    One of those two makes:

    6 sec mark

So… do you believe in Clingan’s shot? And if not, do you believe in Sengun’s shot? And if not, do you believe in Clingan’s shot?

I “ruled in” Clingan in a post above but honestly, I probably wouldn’t take him at 3.

If you see Amen as the Point Guard Reed makes sense as his running mate. At worst he can be a very efficient off the ball player and you hide Reed on the worse offensive back court player .

I fully expect Jalen Green fanbois to adopt this in order to suggest wet need to wait 9 years for their guy to finally learn to shoot a basketball.

I think where we disagree is on what passing here means for a PG. To me a great passer isn't someone who makes the right read, the right pass, make good decisions. That is what I want out of Jabari or Tari or Cam. If they can do the above, then they are great passers for their roles. To me, if his future upside is being the PG on the Rockets, it means generating high quality looks for teammates. I have watched more Youtube videos of Sheppard than every other prospect so far because of all the buzz of him being linked to Houston, so I was 100% looking for signs of what he can do in this regards. And I saw nearly nothing in this aspect.

Now I think the pushback I got from that post seems to be more that I think he's a stiff who can't pass, which is not what I'm saying. In fact if I thought that, I'd just flat out say he's not worth the #3 pick. Because 6-3 shooters with limited passing skills aren't even worth the 9th pick much less 3rd. Not unless you are showing Steph Curry shooting ability in college. To me there's a certain higher expectation for this pick rather than "hey he's a connective passer" and "hey he has a lot of steals so he's not Trae Young" kind of viewpoint.

Perhaps a better way to put it is if he's everything this thread makes him out to be, then he shouldn't be the 3rd pick. But rather Atlanta should just be fielding calls for the 1st pick because he exist, or perhaps they should trade Trae Young so he can take over. He clearly is not thought of that way in the general scouting community that is publicly available. Majority of the mocks and big boards don't have him at 3 or higher. He is mostly being rated below Risacher who is averaging 10 points and 35% 3pt shooting against mediocre French league. These draft people can't all be somehow missing stuff that regular fans are seeing.

With this team, you have to go Clingan, Sarr or Risacher.

Yet it provides insight into his BBIQ and team first mentality that we should believe is important.

What is Risacher official wingspan if he’s 6’9/6’10 but with a 6’10 wingspan that really isn’t that good right? Having the same wingspan as his height?

Thin, lanky forward with a sub par wingpsan, questionable skills outside of spot up 3 point shooting, and mediocre free throw shooting; a guy who lives entirely on open court highlight dunks?

Where have I heard of this before?

Positions are kind of meaningless anyways yeah so 100%.

We need to start thinking of basketball positions like we do soccer ones, more about what role is being fulfilled instead of PG, SG, SF, etc etc because we all know of course that Sengun plays a different role than Adams will play.

In this sense, I'm team Reed. I feel like he is the only one really that I know can come in and contribute right away and you can slot him in and get minutes and learn from another undersized guard in FVV.

Risacher is tempting and if he's there at 3 I wouldn't be mad at drafting him as he does IMO has the most upside but for this reason I don't think he's even there at 3, I see some mocks having him at 1 and I almost expect a more Paolo rise from him because its hard to turn down that length and shooting and age and Sarr's knock is 'offensively limited', so I expect Risacher to end up going first on draft day the more ATL thinks about it. I don't think Risacher will be there at 3 but I'd still pick Reed over him just on fit. We have Jabari, we don't potentially need another Jabari.

So really Reed just makes the most sense and to me, BPA at 3 if Sarr and Risacher go first. I even have Reed over Topic because with Sengun, Green, Amen, FVV, the last thing we need is another guy that needs the ball to score. We need this, a pure shooter, a guy who you see is open and you know its money.

And hopefully his defense translates to the NBA and he can improve his handling and creative ability but even if he doesn't it looks like a great fit.

But he's mobile and bouncy. He's not a soft stiff.

One of the many reasons I want to pick Sheppard is to prevent the Spurs from getting him.

Reed and Wemby together will be a huge problem for the league.

Of course, if he is picked before the Rockets turn, I'd be happy to get either Resacher or Dillingham. Just please don't get a non-outside shooter like Clingon, Edey, or Castle.

If Risacher goes to Atlanta, does Washington take Sarr? I feel like they would and should--he seems to have the most raw potential and they badly need a guy they can actually build around. Plus he's a good defender at a position of need for them.
