Well that was a trade with a veteran star on the downhill for a young player who showed promise. People are demanding the opposite with trading for a veteran star and giving up young promising players. If we go after Garland with the third pick and maybe FVV id definitely be open to that.
Which young up and comer did they trade? Its like trading FVV or Dillon for a nice peice not trading Chet/Green Rocket River
If we were further along in the rebuild then maybe but I don't think trading for Mitchell makes sense. I'm not super high on Jalen's upside at this point but he did at least show something in March.
He showed WAAAAAY more than something. Unfortunately when he came back down to earth he did not just go back down to an average SG he was below average again at the end of the season.
If we trade Green for DM, then we better be committed to building a championship contending team immediately for the guy. That would mean a serious roster overhaul. He's not coming here to babysit. I-m not for building around Green but I'm not convinced DM is a player you build around for a championship either.
Garland looked like he was rising toward stardom. Then Mitchell happened and he got worse. If you get Mitchell, you'd better be prepared to give him the key and turn everybody else into role players.
While this may be true... we may not want to do much besides provide another bidder for the Cavs to capitalize on. At the end of the day even if we end up trading for Spyda there's no guarantee that he stays and in turn signs with Brooklyn anyway. On top of that we just cleared out some of our assets (possibly including the Nets picks/swaps) to get a 2 year rental that we tried playing keep away from Brooklyn, for no reason.
Not a big fan of Mitchell personally. Isn’t he kind of a heliocentric player? Except like a tier down from Harden and like maybe two down from Luka? Trading for Donovan means we’re accepting the 2nd round is our Super Bowl. Just feel like the window is still way more open than that with our young guys.
My offer is Jalen and #3. They will say no and I would move on. That's where I think the value is without an extension.
Let's see him jump about 5% on 3pt shooting and basically every important metric 2-3 notches in his next season. Spida was an All-Star in his third season. If the Rockets want to have a top 15 player in the league then make the deal or continue to pray Jalen Green is consistent enough before his max deal comes up and "pray" he lives up to the deal they will have to give him.
It's not about hate, it's about getting a top 15 talent and moving this team forward. This team will pay Sengen before they pay JG. The ink just needs to dry.
Mitchell is better than Green, but that's not the question. Getting Mitchell means that we now have an undersized player who will prevent Amen and Cam from developing into 1st options. Amen and Cam have physical advantages that could someday allow them to go toe-to-toe with Ant and Shai. I'm showing my age here, but Mitchell reminds me of Karl Malone. Great stats, excellent player, but he was consistently dominated by better players (e.g. Hakeem and Jordan) in the playoffs. Malone at least had incredible strength that gave him unusual advantages. Mitchell has above average strength, but really has nothing else going for him other than trying harder than most other players.
